Mayweather-Canelo, the end of an era?
« on: September 11, 2013, 04:47:39 AM »
Can't wait to see this fight, I believe this will be the end of Mayweather era. Canelo will take over.
Thoughts?

If Canelo doesn't fall asleep in the ring, he's got a legit chance. But Mayweather despite being an idiot outside the ring is a master at quietly putting his opponent in a state of apathy. Even the Ortiz KO was because the guy forgot he was where he was. All his other recent fights went all the way. Basically the judges would have given Mayweather those fights even if he hadn't thrown one single punch because he dictated the pace of those fights.

This should be an easy one for FMJ. Canelo may have his moments but I dont see what the hype is about.

Not the biggest follower of boxing, but why does Pacquiao (sp) fight bigger, more well known names, while Mayweather continues to fight lesser know boxers?

Juan Manuel Marquez
Timothy Bradley
Shane Mosley
Antonio Margarito
Joshua Clottey
Miguel Cotto
Ricky Hatton
Oscar De La Hoya

keep believing the manny bullshit.  fmw and manny have fought the same guys at 147.

bradley has no power for fmw
margarito would just be another b e a n e r tour fill-in
clottey  ::)

dude, you need to be real.

btw, canelo beats everyone above. maybe cotto could get past him.

Thought that post was prefaced with "not the biggest follower of boxing"

Haha

 ;D

Thank you for the list however. More or less, that was the question as to Mayweathers fights.

(The comparison with Manny is due to the fact that Manny and Floyd wanted to fight many a time, yet never have . . . That's all.)

Don't bother w/ G-Strang.  He also said Mayweather was avoiding Andre Berto.

spectators say the only guy who can beat Mayweather is Adrien Broner. When asked about it Broner said he would not fight his big bro for any amount. Broner wants his own legacy. I think he did awful fighting at 147lbs against the shittiest welterweight paulie M.

I agree. I think there is more to it. Is Floyd fighting fighters he hired for his Mayweather promotions?

I havn't heard one respected or knowledgable journalist say Broner can beat Mayweather.  Just Broner fans.

I have. But I am not arguing like I said I thought he fought like shit at 147lbs especially against Paulie. Broner should have knocked paulie out after 4-5 rounds or gotten stoppage. As far as Broners persona it attracts alot of attention some good and some bad but any attention is good attention.

Mayweather gets $41m guaranteed, before any PPV percentage.  Nice racket he's got there
