A woman from Zimbabwe, who claims to be in a three-year long intimate relationship with her own son, is allegedly waiting for a child-grandchild with him and wants to marry him, writes Spanish “ABC” quoting local media.

“Zimbabwe mail” says that Betty Mbereko asked the elders of the village Mwenezi in Masvingo, where she lives, to allow them to marry, as they are “very much in love”.

Mbereko, 40, has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son Farai Mbereko. She confirmed her pregnancy and said that she wishes to marry her son so she does not have to marry her late husband’s younger brothers.

Farai has also spoken and said that he wants to repay his father’s debt to his grandparents and that he wants everyone to know that he made his mother pregnant, so the villagers would not accuse her of promiscuity.


The elders asked both of them to break their relationship or leave the village. They chose to leave the village and are now in an undisclosed destination.

I believe Zimbabwe Mail is state run, so this may not even be real. If it is, it says a lot about the state of Zimbabwe than anything else...lack of suitable men for the mother. Odd how there is only a grainy pic, and the woman seems as old as the son, as far as i can tell.
