I think it has been re-branded to "climate change."  Sort of like abortion being called "reproductive healthcare."

Climate change and global warming are two different things. Of course media coverage of certain issues ebbs and flows.

what you need to know is that in the late 70's and early 80's the mass media was reporting on a regular basis that experts and scientist were predicting another ice age.... it didn't catch the attention of the masses, now the experts and scientist predict global warming. it's all BS.

Climate change is a term coined by politicians and scientists in an effort to scaremonger the masses into allowing for more taxes/fees/fines to be collected at the behest of growing expanionist global entities. Climate change is merely another method of collecting vast sums of money by globalized institutions and the wealthy few who stand to profit from such measures.

Meanwhile, REAL environmental catastrophes such as mass deforestation, desertification, pollution of fresh water sources, overfishing, overpopulation, species extinction, and widespread unregulated industrialization get ignored or pushed back.

To think human activity such as driving can impact our weather patterns heavily is arrogant at best. To believe more taxes and empowering global groups and Al Gore-like wealthy individuals would decrease this activity is ludicrous. We should always be mindful of how our activities impact our environment and others on the planet, but the new-age Hippie outlook of demonizing those who drive trucks and praising those who drive hybrids is now at the forefront of politics and discussion....and it is entirely bullshit.

Watch some global warming/climate change believer claim the hurricane that hit Mexico as evidence of global warming.

But the moment I post evidence showing that there have been more records broken for low temperatures than high temperatures this past summer, it gets dismissed as simple changing weather patterns or as a limited, short term observation.

it's an agenda that is pushed hard by the left.  when the CBO met and discussed the amounts that were going to be allocated to the funding of global warming research it was an easy way for the left to attack the Bush administration.  When you look at the Obama administration and what they have done to advance the funding of global warming research it is not much different from what the Bush administration did so the left stays silent on the issue because "their guy" is the only one who they could criticize.  Since they patently refuse to criticize Obama they stay silent on the issue.

What is the difference between global warming and climate change?

Global warming is a term that means the overall gradual average increase of earth's surface temperature over a period of time. According to the general consensus of scientific studies, it is largely attributed to the relation between surface temperature and manmade activities.

Climate change encompasses global warming within it, but, due to manmade activities, causes, and effects, also accounts for sudden, severe changes in the weather such as increased amount/strength of hurricanes, colder winters, draughts, floods, and tornados.

In short, global warming's immediate effects are not felt by the populace right away......however, the extreme weather patterns that fall under climate change categories are.

They'll start talking about that just before election time. Everyone falls for it again and vote the same parties in again. And spend the next 5 years lamenting about the same shit again.

I bet my fucking account on this.

So you're saying that because media reports from "experts" were wrong about a global change in climate 25 to 35 years ago, current scientific consensus about climate change is BS?   And you're saying this as if you are certain about it?

Sorry, mang, you don't sound as if you know what you're talking about.

Holy shit, I find myself agreeing with one who might be a "climate-change denier".  Your middle paragraph is golden.

To what degree climate change is due to human actions and what can realistically be done to deal with it are very difficult questions, for sure.

I totally agree with you that solving such questions should not be allowed to overshadow more immediate environmental concerns like the ones you've listed in terms of either publicity or funding.

I don't think I've come across this sort of opinion in discussions about climate change but it's a good one.
