Great run, should retire. Sure he could put on a bit more muscle and come back but he'll always have that wide waist so coming in smaller doesn't work for him. To reclaim most of his size he'd have to do what these other guys do all year round. Not worth it at 41 IMO. Unless he has nerve damage or injuries, the irreversible muscle loss that happens with age is more late 40s. We've seen numerous guys early and mid 40s looking near their peak. (Dexter, Alves, Freeman, Taylor, even Ronnie until over 45)

Jay has nothing to hang his head about. He's had a great career. He gave it one last shot and it didn't work out as planned. At least he came in conditioned. A class act who will always be a 4x Mr. O.

Lionel was excellent and will hopefully improve in the coming year(s). Jay was good, but his biggest threat was the judges memory of what he once was.

Hard to compete against that.

BUT since Jay is a former Mr O, he can do 2014 without doing any more shows before then.

I think Bob was pushing a retirement speech out of Jay as he was getting off stage. I thought for sure Jay was going to say something along the lines if "its been a great ride, but its time to retire now."
Knowing Jay though, Dave is going to tell him how good he looked X days out and Jay will come back. Not a good idea...

he's making too much money, and only kai and phil are more marketable than him. he'll wing it like ronnie for a couple of yrs. i don't think he'll step on the o stage but i think he'll con people and say, he is taking 2014 off to get back in 2015 because he needs a year + instead of 10 weeks.
