In Islam healthcare is a right and privilege and so is wellfare. In fact the origin of wellfare is from the second caliph of Islam Umar ibn Al-Khattab (ra). He established the concept of a baytulmal which is the public treasury and would distribute wellfare to those in need, such as orphans, children, nursing women, widows, the poor and helpless, etc... amongst other things. Mind you Islam is against begging and beggers and states that in any land that there is a single begger there is a corrupt leader. The purpose behind this is to help those that are truly helpless and to get them on their feet.. as well as establishing them as capable in society.

To top it off, if there was some calamity, famine, whatever it was, the leader himself would refuse to take anything until those under his care were taken care of, that was Umar ibn Al-Khattab, a true leader, not the losers today who leech off the people and live luxurious lives.

Of course you don't want that either in a capitalist society where people step over people and the rich grow richer while the poor get poorer.

A_Acccccchmed is, unfortunately, partially correct.  WE have become lazy and indolent.  We do wage wars, destabilize governments, and prop up despots in order to further the US corporatocracy's financial interests. Healthcare isn't a right, plain and simple. You cannot be entitled, as a right, to something that requires someone else to do something. If healthcare is a right, that means that a sufficient number of people must be forced to become doctors; similarly for nurses, etc. Your "right" to healthcare isn't a right at all.

You seem to think that just because some Muslims helped make some advancements, that means that all advancements were made by Muslims. This is, of course, wrong.

The bottom line is that there have been advancements made by Muslims, but even if they did make many advancements in the past, today they are, mostly, stagnant and many - especially in the Middle East - actively seek to live the lifestyle prevalent in the 13^th century and turn back many modern advancements.
