Dr. Prabhjot Singh, a Columbia University professor, had just dropped his wife and his 1-year-old son off at home on Saturday night when he went for a short walk with his friend to the north of Central Park in Harlem, he explains. They were walking past a group of 25 to 30 young men, many of whom had bikes, when he heard, “Get him!” as well as “Osama” and “terrorist” being yelled.

Someone grabbed his beard and he was hit on the chin. All of the bikes began to mobilize and he started to run. The assailants on bikes started taking swipes at his head and a couple hit him in the chest. He was punched in the face repeatedly and he fell. That’s when the group converged on him, hitting him in the head over and over again.

There wasn’t much going through his mind at the time. He tried to protect himself while the punches rained down on his head as his body lay on the sidewalk. That’s when bystanders came to his aid.

In his first comments since the brutal attack, Singh tells BuzzFeed that he doesn’t remember much about the suspects — except that most were African-American — yet he says the police investigation and catching the attackers is not foremost on his mind.

He might not hate white people but he seriously delusional about where the threat is coming from.  There aren't many white supremacy groups in the United States and the ones that do exist are small in number and scattered throughout the country with very little connection to one another.  I wager he's more likely to be attacked by Deshaun than Cletus.

Approximately 1.4 million people were part of gangs as of 2011, and more than 33,000 gangs were active in the United States.


Compared that to an estimated 50,000 people who are part of a white supremacist group with only around a1,000 active groups.  And many of these groups exist only as P. O. Boxes and newsletters with little to no active participation by members.  If you receive a newsletter, you're a member even if you never speak with or meet any other members for the duration of your life. You can find this info on the SPLC website.

A book was written a few years back by a well know and respected researcher  Laird Wilcox, who writes about extremist and watch dog groups on both the right and the left, and he was convinced that the number of WS groups is greatly inflated by the SPLC.

I challenge you or anyone else to prove that these white supremacist groups pose a fraction of the danger of your average street gang. He's wasted his life chasing wind mills.
