I am by no means very well informed about economics, but I am thinking in relation to the US shutdown:

- fewer tourists want to go to the US

- people are afraid to buy from USA (postal service shut down)

So, I guess the dollar currency will lose some of its value while this shutdown is ongoing?

Postal service isn't shut down (although it should be).

Since when does Wiggs have a pension? Pensions in the US are for people who give a life time of work. Phony disability in the US is for people who have played the system to get a check for life that is exploding in the US. Everyone can't work because of some ailment and they want their retirement social security now while they are young. They have one hearing before a judge and if your lawyer has his doctor show up or documentation you are on the road to getting a check for life with free health care. From there you can get food stamps and housing assistance. You can also get a free cell phone. No wonder this country is broke. No wonder the world is coming here in droves to become a citizen to vote for the Democratic party.

All fiat currencies are valued at perceived worth. The US has the military clout to keep the dollar as the reserve currency (e.g. terrorizing the ME into keeping dollars the sole oil bourse currecny), which in turn keeps it artificially 'desirable'.

Yep. It's like quietly adjusting your pistol before sitting down to have a discussion/argument with unarmed people.
