Sly was one of the attractions at NYC Comic Con this weekend ... where the going rate for a snapshot with the Italian Stallion ran $445, and autographs were $395.

But the price didn't scare off legions of Stallone-aholics, who willingly shelled out the cash for a moment with their hero.

Stallone wasn't the only celeb charging for pics ... a photo with Stan Lee ran $400 bucks ... and people dropped $200 for a shot with Sigourney Weaver.

I'm as much of a fan of Sly as anyone else, but I wouldn't pay a penny to take a picture with any actor or celebrity whatsoever.

Honestly, I consider that (charging fans to take a picture) to be a scumbag move. The fans are the same people that pay the bills for these actors. They are the ones filling the seats when their latest movies come out, purchasing DVD's, memorabilia and joining their ridiculous fan sites to further keep their "heroes" alive. Without these fans, Hollywood actors would just be like any other insecure "faker" looking to make it big. Celebrities are kept alive by the fans that idolize them and pay to see their material/product. To charge these fans such a ridiculous price to simply pose next to you is like biting the hand that feeds you.

Honestly, guys like Sly, Lou and whomever charges fans money to take a simply picture should be ashamed of themselves.

One thing is to sell actual merchandise that can have some form of inherent value (a DVD, CD, clothing, object from one of their movies etc.), but another thing is to charge people simply to stand next to you for a picture.

I agree with your very first sentence, friend. Personally, I would never spend a cent, either. I also see your point in the rest of the post; it is a scumbag move to charge fans for a pic/autograph. On the other hand, if people are willing to pay it, who's more at fault?

Is the celebrity a prick for charging it, or is the fan an idiot for paying it?

When I worked as a magician years ago, some newer performers would ask me what they should charge for a show. I would always tell them, "You charge what you're worth." And, whatever somebody is willing to pay you...THAT'S what you're worth.
