It's incredible how many guys claim to have been a Seal. There was a web site devoted to exposing false claims of being an ex Seal.  It seems any Navy guy that had any involvement with the Seals team claim they too was a Seal. Seals, Marine recon; and Special Forces are a small elite special operations team.  I read that the average weight of Seal at graduation is 170lbs.  Endurance is what elite military forces need.  Everytime I hear a 240lb fat guy who couldn't run a 100 yards claim he was a Seal I want to laugh.

A very good friend, who is now a DJ on a regional rock station, was a seal for 4 years during Viet Nam.  The stories are unbelievable, but true.  out of 100 applicants, 5 are accepted and only 1 on average finishes SEAL training.  Some of the underwater explosives take up to 3 minutes of holding your breath to install.  Try it.  I can't see how it's humanly possible for some of the shit these very special people are able to achieve.  There was a special on DSC a few years ago which we watched together.  He told me they down played alot of the more nastier things like eating grubs, bark, silent killing, bloodless noiseless killing.  Like I said, special men for a specail job.

Your friend is pushing 60 yrs old?  (assuming he was 20 and served in Nam 66 through 70)

The hair stylist for Baywatch was one of the first Neal Seal graduates.  He is a tough looking guy that carries around a hair brush and spritzer bottle.  Any Seals on here know a Seal with the initials TB.  He headed up the BUDS in Guam and is now in Guantanamo (?).  His dad is also an Admiral.  We were partners for awhile in a website that sells Navy Seal wear and watches.  I never knew how he got the rights to do that.

"Headed up the BUDS in Guam..."  Are you sure?  BUDS has always been in Coronado, as far as I know.

I am pretty sure he said thats what he was doing there.  I don't know nothing about half the shit he tells me.  But I do remeber he was in Guam and he mentioned BUDS.  I remember he was trying to get a company n the side going to disarm mines or something.  He had a website where he sold Seal stuff.  I worked on it a little.  It was hooyausa.com  He was pretty high up there.

Actually I just went to the site.  It is still up.  Nothing changed really  Still had links to a couple other pages I did along time ago but they dont work.  He had access to the actual original plans found somewhere in Germany to the Fokker DR1 or 7 can't remember that The Red Baron flew.  I made a really nice website for that and we had a Hummer conversion company called Hooya Hummer.  He was a Ranger I think first then went into the Seal program.

BUDS is in Coronado.....

Most liekly this guy ran a program or school out of Guam which used Seal instructors.

That is very common around the world.

I was in a forced recon unit when I was in the USMC for 18 mos. It was pretty brtal training but I doubt it was nearly as bad as BUDS.

You mean Force Recon right?

In regards to your training...it's very equivalent to the basic BUDS program in physical demands except that BUDS training may take it a little more deeper in the emotional & mental exhaustion stage.

Most Elite Special Forces training is very similar in physical demands.  Where it become different is the actual mission each team is assigned to specialize in.  SEALS are crossed trained in every basic demand but still is assigned to become an expert in a certain area.  Army, Navy, Air Force, & Marines...each have their own special forces.  Some are trained for some general basic missions & others may be specialized in certain extreme areas.

But any guy that really is a SEAL or an operator will more than likely tell you he is something else, and not admit what he does for a living, unless you are working with him or real close family.

Very true

They don't do it to create a mystery....but to protect their families, their missions, & to avoid stupid questions.
