You are confusing the moderate/'mainstream' republican party (party of bushes, mccain etc..) with Conservatives, which the aformentioned are not. True conservatives were bashing the bush admin for their big-gov ways and spending just like they are now bashing the obama admin

K, I can dig this. I think progressive social policies and fiscal conservatism is the best approach. It's hard to tell who a Conservative is as I don't see anyone but Bachmann, Palin, Cantor, Boehner, McCain, Graham, Rubio,Cruz etc.

Who are iyo some influential conservatives.

very few actual conservatives in office.

many RINOs trying to come across ass conservatives. ... but theyre not.

conservatism is almost non existant in American politics.

I like Ron Paul and his principle, he has some wacky ideas that I think won't work with a population of that size.

pretty much.

The Pauls have the right ideas for the most part (obviously ZERO gocernment interference isnt reasonable), but the mainstream republicans and democrars4 do their best to assassinate their characters by attaching whacked out ideals/people to their names.

not really one major politician id label a true conservatice I can thinm of besides ron and rand paul.

This is my philosophy as well, free society and individualistic with shared responsibilities for everyone's betterment. I would make welfare effort contingent as well.
