Not a chance-he would have won this year if talk about better aesthetics had been fully enforced. Also he has some structural issues he can't do much about that other guys with aesthetics don't have to deal with.

His main hope is his marketability. He'd probably sell more mags.

Well Ronnie will soon be outta the picture, at his age a lot can happen in a year. Then what will happen?
Gunter is up there every year. 4th this year. 6th in 2004. 5th in 2003. 5th in 2002.

It's hard to think of a better posterboy for the sport than Gunter. He's got a physique that's pretty much free from everything criticized with bodybuilding.

Look I agree Gunter looks great, i'd rather look like him. But to win he can't have noticably smaller muscles than the other guys, which he does. If he could maintain about the same condition and add 20 lb. he would have a better chance. Also has to address the poor calves.

As far as winning in the future, other guys are coming up with similar aesthetics but better balance.

Gunter might have a chance to win for a brief time after Ron retires, because he's definitely the most appealing to promote BB. He looks much healthier than most of them and can speak better.

You're not getting it. Being the same size but "just taller" means he doesn't have the same muscle volume = smaller, relative to others. He needs 20 more lb. of quality muscle including serious calf improvement. If Arnold could bring up his calves drastically, he should be able to.

  Agreed. Being tall and/or having a large frame makes your muscles appear small, in comparison.

Gunter has what it takes to win. At his best he can beat ANYONE. The next Arnold. He can afford to carry the extra size without losing his aesthetics unlike his midget competitors. I would be happy with him or Jay as the next Mr. Olympia. Jay is impressive because he's tons of mass on a short frame. He looks like a giant dwarf if that makes sense.

  Dorian looked dry as hell at the 97 O, when he 274 lbs, at 2% bodyfat. Has Ronnie ever compared to that? No! At the 2003 O, he had good conditioning, but his delts overpowered his pecs and his waist overpowered his delts. At the 2004 O, his conditioning was terrible-lots of water retention-and he looked 9 months pregnant. What a disgrace to bodybuilding!

  No, I'm not. Pick up the October, 1997 issue of Flex. There, where he comments on the Olympia from that year, Peter McGough states that Dorian was 266 lbs for pre-judging and that he ballooned to 274 lbs, by the night show. It's written there, word for word. As for the 2% bodyfat thing, that was Dorian's hallmark, which set him apart from all other pros. The man was ripped and drier than the Atacama Desert!
