When I was stationed in Germany there was a part of the barracks that was sealed off. You could access it by climbing through vents on the outside.  It was a Nazi barracks in WWII. They had tunnels that lead all over the base.  We would go down there and explore.  Found all sorts of furniture and letters. Wish I had videoed or taken pics.

Thousands of workers were brought in from India (Hindu and Moslem) for the most part.
