I watched an ESPN piece on this one team that was VERY good... they would have a 49-0 lead after the 1st quarter....
So, as expected, they would have to put in their scrubs, and limp out with a 83-0 in, instead of going to 150 points or something.
WELL.... when the playoffs came... the starters were only used to playing for 1 or 2 quarters... and when they were up against other elite teams, they LOST because they didn't have that 60 minutes of actual play time together every week.
So I'm fine with losing by 150 points from time to time... in real life, we all have days when everything goes wrong and life kicks you in the balls 4 or 5 times in one afternoon. Sucks, but by the time you're 14, 15, 16, 17... it's a lesson you should learn - and meaningless points on a scoreboard are among the more minor problems in life to have. Maybe just turn off the scoreboard after it's 70 to zip. But you gotta let the kids play.
BESIDES>>> can't the team losing by 80 points throw in the towel at anytime? Just forfeit the game?
