US, Canada should merge into one country

One world government, and the North American Union use to be a far out Conspiracy Theory. It's coming into the mainstream.  240 mentioned this earlier.

U-S-Eh!

No two nations in the world are as integrated, economically and socially, as the United States and Canada. We share geography, values and a gigantic border.

Regardless of this close friendship, our two countries are on a slow-motion collision course — with each other and with the rest of the world.

In 1987, the two countries signed the Free Trade Agreement (Mexico joined in 1994) but the US-Canada border has become more clogged than ever, hurting trade and tourism. There are heavy regulations, security controls and border police, the result of terrorist threats and extensive drug smuggling from Canada that has forced US officials to deploy drones and set up listening posts.

No thanks.

to a lot of people, it makes sense.

Canadian resources, mexican labor, and US mgmt/consumption.

On paper, there are a lot of things that really make sense.  Suddenly we'd be a MUCH stronger global force.  Canadian oil being drilled by Mexican workers, and delivered to US customers (who needs mid east oil?)... Mexican plants giving us the cheap things we need (who needs china?)

It'd solve a shitload of problems, create a few, but really, would most people in the USA even notice?  Sure, it was a CT in 2005 when a few of us nutty getbiggers were saying it, and 8 years later, sure, it's closer.  Still decades away and will arrive so gradually we never notice.

Really, I'm more concerned about what's on the breakfast menu today, than this merging I consider inevitable but hardly noticable to most of us.

No thank you. I want nothing to do with our toilette seat. Ruin yourself by yourself, don't bring us down to the toilette level.

I puked at the part that says 'share values'

I like your movies. I have found no difference really travelling between the two, however, I have rarely been past Buffalo. I think we are more similar then different. We are obviously better because we are above you.

Were very similar.... but every canadian ive known has been contemptuous of americans... and every american ive known laughs at canadians..... so even though were sinilar our prejudices would not be easy to get over.

I used to go play shows in BC all the time. Beautiful women, and very easy. ;D

No hate for americans over here.

Beautiful country, been there plenty.

It's just the racial tensions and the poverty I've seen over there that makes one appreciate the great white north.

I am an American and am not proud to admit that the average Canadian is much more civilized, not to mention intelligent than the average American.

lol.  I am an American and completely disagree.  That isn't true of the Canadians who post on the board or the ones I've met in real life.

Why do so many Canadians migrate to the U.S.?

My guess is weather and taxes...

Hard to generalize when it comes to people from the U.S. Such a large, populated country, where every region will have a "norm" on how people behave.

Canadians as a whole I have found to be more laid back and polite than the average American though.

Merge?

We should just annex that northern shithole and take what we want.

It's not like Canada has ever contributed anything to the world anyway - aside from a bunch of twunts always trying to tell us what we should do.

Some Canadian invented the first light bulb, the one that burnt thousands of houses down.  Later, American Thomas Edison came along and invented a practical light bulb.

They also invented the Snow Blower

I've not met a Canadian yet that didn't have some kind of inferiority complex.

I've met Mexicans, South Americans, even Asians and Europeans that were much easier to get along with and relate to.

I've felt that from some Canadians towards people from Toronto. There is this conception that we believe to be at the center of the universe.

Curious what parts of Canada you've visited...
