to a lot of people, it makes sense.
Canadian resources, mexican labor, and US mgmt/consumption.
On paper, there are a lot of things that really make sense. Suddenly we'd be a MUCH stronger global force. Canadian oil being drilled by Mexican workers, and delivered to US customers (who needs mid east oil?)... Mexican plants giving us the cheap things we need (who needs china?)
It'd solve a shitload of problems, create a few, but really, would most people in the USA even notice? Sure, it was a CT in 2005 when a few of us nutty getbiggers were saying it, and 8 years later, sure, it's closer. Still decades away and will arrive so gradually we never notice.
Really, I'm more concerned about what's on the breakfast menu today, than this merging I consider inevitable but hardly noticable to most of us.
