I have a serious answer here:  Because you realize that, in addition to your hard work, you had a lot of luck along the way.

If things had broken even slightly differently, you might (still) be up shit creek.  In these shitty, shitty times, I meet a lot of smart people who were much more responsible than me who are fucked because of things outside of their control.  This idea, btw, can just about drive me crazy when I really dwell on it.  Especially when I widen my consideration to include people in other countries.  Can you imagine how fucked up it is for all the good Iraqi's, the ones who went to university and tried to just have good life, when their country was fucked up courtesy of their idiot leader and the good old USA?

If you are successful and happy, you are lying to yourself if you think that luck did not play a major role.  So spread it around.  It's what good humans do.
ok then lets play the game, what luck took place to get me where I am today?

I have had plenty of things happen to me over my life that if i had let it would have led me down a bad path. How is it luck that I chose not to let that happen and remained focused on my goals?

you need to put down the gladwell bullshit and realize that everyone especially in this country has a plethora of opportunities in front of them. Some have paths that are harder than others, many much harder than others. That doesnt change the fact that your personal actions have a much bigger impact on the outcome of your life than anything else

RRKore and Abraham are in some kind of delusional 1930's, Grapes of Wrath, Great Depression fantasy world.

If only they had faced real hardship like our grandparents generation.

That's what I admire about Mexican, Asian, and Russian immigrants.  They work hard and save money like people here use to, no complaints.

more examples of how some of those on the govt dole are responsible people who have just had bad luck

90% of welfare parents are single mothers of those 10% are married, 36% divorced/widowed/separated and 54% never married.

Most welfare mothers are in their 20s and 30s with 6% under 20 years of age, 24% 20-24 years of age, 22% 25-29 years of age, 35% 30-39 years of age and 13% 40 years of age or older.

Most welfare recipients have 1 or 2 children with 41% 0-1 children, 33% 2 children, 16% 3 children and 10% more than 3 children

im totally for a few reasonable social programs, used as a security net to catch citizens who stumble or fall.... but the forcible redistribution of wealth is complete horseshit.

I want to earn my way, I dont want anyone to hand me shit... maybe its just me, but I was brought up to take pride in working hard and earning my way.

I have used social programs like food stamps in the past (when my family and I moved and were between jobs, so I understand their usefullness), but the amount I have taken out is not anywhere near the amount ive paid in. And IMHO, thats the way it should be.... adults should not be able to live indefinitely on welfare and not work just because they pop out a dozen bastard children.  Social programs should be geared for low income workers struggling to feed a family, rather than the professionally unemployed, as it is now.

And IMHO everyone should put in evenly... a flat percentage of income should go to social services.

You da man.
do you think those ppl I outlined who make up the majority of welfare recipients have led a responsible life and made good choices abraham?

do you think a single mother who has never been married with 2+ children under 30 and without a high school diploma or at most a high school diploma is someone who is living their life responsibly and making good choices?

I probably agree with most if not all of what you're saying.  But, I don't think you're the exception.  Personally, I've been blessed to have never needed any social program as of yet.  Back in 2005 my wife got laid off in August right before the school year started.  She collected one unemployment check because her phenomenal $36,000 salary (boy, teachers have it made) was spread over the course of 12 months not the 9 month school calendar.  Then, she was called back and placed in another school.  In terms of unemployment and social security those programs can only be collected on if you've paid into the system.  SS might have a loophole if you're disabled or unable to physically work.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

about right typical libtard, positions based on opinions and emotions that they believe are facts.

When shown their opinions are based on nothing but ignorant and innacurate assumptions they lash out and then deflect, point fingers and run away..

Now run away abraham and let the grown ups who are educated on the topics being discussed talk without the ignorance and stupidity you bring to the board

We all probably know people, even close friends and family who have his absolute rock bottom and climbed back up.

You're not fucked for life because you had some major obstacles to overcome.
