The repubs aren't perfect but I'm a conservative and some given that many repubs lean right...thats who I support. I'm just a tad more cynical of our political parties than you and Beach these days. I have zero faith that either party is capable of turning the ship around at this point. I think we are happy when one of the parties straightens up a few of the deck chairs as the ship sinks.
