Much too long.

If he took 1 hour of that time and devoted it to leg training, then he might have a complete physique.

Or cardio..........

You have no idea what Michael does in the gym, and what he eats.  He eats better/cleaner than anyone I know.  He doesn't eat any sugary items like donuts (who ever wrote that), no deserts, no sweets.  Rarely eats potatoes and pasta.  Never eats breads.  His diets is literally lean chicken, more lean chicken, some filet mignon, steamed veggies and small amounts of rice, rice cakes, all natural peanut butter, egg whites, sometimes nuts.  I KNOW all this because I am the one cooking it.  And believe me, I am sick to death of such a bland diet, so don't go saying he eats like a pig.  He doesn't.  Personally, I think he needs more cardio than he does.  He also busts his ass in the gym.  He is there everyday and spends close to 2 - 2 1/2 hours there.  Again I KNOW this because I am there.  He is quite serious about getting leaner and losing the bodyfat.  Where would have placed in the last contest you did??  He'd probably say dead last  lol.

Cheri Lane, what are Arvilla's carb sources?

If everyone took your advice here Mes, there would be no getbig.  GB is ALL drama.  Look at any and every page and post, drama, drama, drama.  You feed into it as well just by adding your two cents.  You can believe anything you want, but Michael works hard, trains hard and lives for this sport.  And being his age he has to work twice as hard as someone 1/2 his age ... such as yourself.  But that is something you eventually will find out when you're in your 40's.   And as far as being a "real" man ... it takes a "real" man to admit his faults, a "real" man to be comfortable in his own skin, a "real" man to be able to laugh at himself, a "real" man to ask for help when needed, a "real" man to put his family first and make them happy.  Michael is all that and more.  You stated you are 1/2 his age, to be truthful, you are still just a kid.  We have gone through twice the amount of life and experiences then you.  I know you are just offering you own opinion and it is appreciated and duly noted.  And although you may all look at him and call him a clown, call him an old man, and whatever else, I would have to say I would rather have him be the man is he is today, then what you all seem to expect or perceive a 42 year old man to be.

Have a Happy New Year Mes.

Yep cardio pushes the time spent at the gym to annoying levels..My training would go for about 1hr, maybe 1 1/2 on leg day, then 30min for cardio...aaarghhh....

I wouldnt say if Mike did legs he would have a complete physique, his back, and shoulders, and chest.. need help big time.

Man, look at us, 4 pages of Arvilla. haha...

but take this into consideration everybody has dramas...  i do... but im sayin it is not necessary to post pics and videos of EVERYThing... do u thnk mike is the only one that trains..has a wife buys his wife gifts.. goes to the beach...
if everyone posted pics movies etc etc.. what kind of bodybuilding forum would getbig be...???  and i can assure u ur perception of training hard and mine are 2 different things... and that is quite evident.. i actually which i lived near mike so we could have a weeks trainin together... then u and him would know what seriosu trainin is about and bear in mind i have trained with bigger guys than mike...
and also ronnie coleman is the same age as mike.. so age is no excuse.... look even further serge nubret.. im sure either didnt spend 80% of their time posting video and pics everyday..
take into consideration....
a lot of guys on here have really great physiques... eg... .. minsdpin .. collusus...and a lot more etc etc..
in totality i think ive seen 6 different pics of mindpin ...
also the others know why.. they are busy being serious in the gym...training away
in contrast to about 500+ of mike... not to mention of you...
im not sayin dude shouldnt post pictures...and videos  im just sayin... there must be a balance...

Rice cakes has got to be one of the fastest carbs around. I thought only women in aerobic classes were hooked on those. It's great for post workout meal. Little else IMO.

White rice is fast too. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who was on a diet. Perhaps for post-workout carb up? Why eat white rice when there is brown rice available? Parboiled rice is pretty good as well.

As far as your concern about pasta... there is whole-grain pasta available, it gets digested slowly. Nutritious and very good for people who like to stay full and stick to a diet.

Stick with eating healthy, include fibrous carbs througout the day, plenty of veggies, and have a caloric deficit of 500 calories, Arvilla will be cut for the summer. In six months, Arvilla would lose 22 lbs of fat.

Of course, the diet could be stricter, but with a 500 calories restriction per day, Arvilla won't have to suffer. JMO.

I had no idea mike spent 2 - 2.5 hours a day in the gym, ate so clean, in addition to using gear.

I guess I don't just see *where* improvements can be made. Yes, cardio. Yes, better carbs.  But damn, dropping 30+ pounds with cardio when you're already working out 150 minutes a day... this should be interesting!

I think the time in the gym Cheri put out there was to show how hardcore Mike really is.  I doubt he spentds that much time in there.  Well maybe if he bullshits alot with people.  Then I could see it.

Thats true. You can see by Mike's posts that he is happy and content with himself. He doesn't take himself too seriously and he is full of enthusiasm. Laura, you are obviously happy with him too. Those are things that you can't buy. Some people wouldn't understand that. Some here do.

Yeah cut out most of those junk carbs that your body can't do much with other than store as fat.

Theres a lot of fancy ways to go about fat loss. The difference in glycemic index of white vs. brown rice is very small. But you should focus on eating unprocessed foods anyways.

Bottom line is you have to burn more calories than you take in. If I were you I'd start taking 12x bodyweight in pounds. Time to start monitoring calories chubbs.
