That's the whole problem right there. A 270lb man eating less than 100g carbs a day, every day? He should be up around 500-700 grams a day (possibly more) WHILE losing bodyfat.
ok, "on swole", hahahaha. ::)

that's 2000-2800 calories a day just from carbs. (carb = 4, pro = 4, fat = 9 kcal per gram)

Assuming a 40pro/40carb/20fat split, that's 5000-7000 calories a day total.  Even higher if he goes for a higher protein ratio.

Seems kinda high, even for a guy that weighs 270.

500-700g of carbs a day when cutting??  you must be insane, mikes lean body mass is probably around 200-215lbs, theres no way in hell he should be consuming that many carbs even when bulking let alone cutting.

500-700 is kinda high, but I get the point your trying to make. A guy thats 270 and in the gym 2.5 hrs a day burns through alot of carbs.

Lol.
Jeffy, if you tell him: NO CARBS TODAY.

He'll probably mail back: what about those six doughnuts i just ate?

Do I think Michael can complete a diet?  Yes.

Do I think he will complete Jeffrey's diet?  No.

You have no idea what Michael does in the gym, and what he eats.  He eats better/cleaner than anyone I know.  He doesn't eat any sugary items like donuts (who ever wrote that), no deserts, no sweets.  Rarely eats potatoes and pasta.  Never eats breads.  His diets is literally lean chicken, more lean chicken, some filet mignon, steamed veggies and small amounts of rice, rice cakes, all natural peanut butter, egg whites, sometimes nuts.  I KNOW all this because I am the one cooking it.  And believe me, I am sick to death of such a bland diet, so don't go saying he eats like a pig.  He doesn't.  Personally, I think he needs more cardio than he does.  He also busts his ass in the gym.  He is there everyday and spends close to 2 - 2 1/2 hours there.  Again I KNOW this because I am there.  He is quite serious about getting leaner and losing the bodyfat.  Where would have placed in the last contest you did??  He'd probably say dead last  lol.

You settle down, Laura.   >:(

I know you like to defend Michael's honor, but take the criticism in stride.

SETTLE DOWN, NOW.

I like seeing Cheri stick up for you.  It's the way a good woman stands behind her man.  Even when they're wrong.

True.

I don't post on threads like this and I don't think I've posted one word for or against McFarland or Mike Ar villa, but Mike, dude...his qualifications are, he's read Flex, done 3 shows, been a avid poster on a bodybuilding board (on that 80% of the time he's been made a fool of) and he's a certified trainer!!

Mike, Don't you have affiliations with John Defends, a freak in his own right? But for Jeff to make those qualifications and actually justify them as legitimate experience, doest that make you wonder?? I'm sure Jeff's a good and well meaning person, but those qualifications leave much to be desired!!

Jeffrey has been in and around the game for years, only recently had he started to think about competing albeit for a handful of shows, but he obviously knows enough for pre-contest prep diet and "supplementation".

He's a physical therapist and PT as well, so he knows a few things about the biomechanical workings of the body.  That's a given.

Is he a full-fledged guru?  No.  Does he knows some shit.  Absolutely.

arvilla...

its a new year 2006
let me be honest and tell you what you need to do.... get down to the gym.. get serious.... diet or whatever.... witthout all the hoopla...  if you take a dump on the toilet you post pics of it... if u buy ur gurl a present you post pics of it.... if u went t the lake... you post pics of it... you woman gets implants the whole world has to know about it... etc etc etc....
this can never be and is never the mentality of a true MAN... fine your gonna start ur new diet etc etc... why all the drama.... just get the f**k on with it.... the whole WWW doesnt to know your every move.... its like a reality tv show...
like i said before your'e not serious.. you just love attention... and to me that is female behaviour...
ur nearly twice my age... i should be learning from you.... me and other younger dudes on here should be the ones doin the shamlessy stupid things your doing.... u are the butt off the jokes of countless teenagers and younger men on here.. and in some cases legitimately so... what kind of serious intense man would accept that.. or is ur goal to be big but a clown at the same time???
suck it up get serious.... scale down the drama.. at least 50%
take a leaf out of dorians book... see how he was... serious.... a real man....
in contrast to wheeler... oh splinter and the ninja turtles... carjacked me... im sick.... woo wooo woo.. im retired no... im back.... horse dead and cow fat... blah blah blah yes he was a great bb.. but he never acheived what was his for the takin.. same with dillet drama... oh the judges are racist.... blah blah... woo woo i have 2 million dollars blah blah...all those great genetics never achieved what they should have while dorian with a blue collar physique flew right past them.. why cause he was a real man... same with coleman... no drama...
try it... weiders NO DRAMA training principle... i guarantee you will vastly improve for 2006
and thats the truth...

^All this post can be summed up in one phrase.

"Real nuggas do Real things".

What Meso is saying, Michael, is less of the "party and bullshit" and more of getting down to what's real.

If you are serious about dieting, then do it.  If you aren't then don't.

This is where the game stops.

If everyone took your advice here Mes, there would be no getbig.  GB is ALL drama.  Look at any and every page and post, drama, drama, drama.  You feed into it as well just by adding your two cents.  You can believe anything you want, but Michael works hard, trains hard and lives for this sport.  And being his age he has to work twice as hard as someone 1/2 his age ... such as yourself.  But that is something you eventually will find out when you're in your 40's.   And as far as being a "real" man ... it takes a "real" man to admit his faults, a "real" man to be comfortable in his own skin, a "real" man to be able to laugh at himself, a "real" man to ask for help when needed, a "real" man to put his family first and make them happy.  Michael is all that and more.  You stated you are 1/2 his age, to be truthful, you are still just a kid.  We have gone through twice the amount of life and experiences then you.  I know you are just offering you own opinion and it is appreciated and duly noted.  And although you may all look at him and call him a clown, call him an old man, and whatever else, I would have to say I would rather have him be the man is he is today, then what you all seem to expect or perceive a 42 year old man to be.

Have a Happy New Year Mes.

I swear to god this cannot be real. Maybe if you guys took some time off of the wanna be bodybuilding couple and started working on your careers you could move out of your apartment and not be the joke of this entire board. This is so fucking unreal I cannot believe you people actually exist.

Looks like there are a lot of people that want you to succeed here Mike!  Idiots & drama too, but regardless... some people that want you to do what you are capable of.  Might as well give it a shot!

After reading all this. I'm so glad I can eat whatever I want and I never get fat.

As well as genetics, I think it has a lot to do with how you conditioned your body as a youth. You can shape your future by what your habits were like as a kid.

For example, I was able to survive off of a can of soup all day, in my pre-teen years. I was always rail thin as a teen because I just never had an apatite,  but I think that I conditioned my body to some degree to stay lean even when I eat like a pig all day now.
Its like laying a foundation for the future. The kids that ate very little , usually stay very lean even after they increase their calorie intake as young adults. The kids that were chubby/fat will always have a hard time getting really lean no matter how little or clean they eat later in life.

i'd do it for free, since we'd be able to grow revenues from DVD sales and click-thrus.

Arvilla's ability to attract attention, McFarland's knowledge and intensity, and my ability to get shit out there could lead to something... imagine the world following the arvilla roller coaster ride to 220!

That's what I've been thinking watching Lil' Wayne lately.  After the typical project kid upbringing, that dude's still so skinny.  Still thin as a board, despite his now having any food out there as an option to him 24/7.  But based on some subtle references in his new album, I do suspect that he lifts quite a bit, and cares more about it than he lets on.  His is the bodytype that Dexter Jackson probably started out with.  Dexter actually won the overall of a show as a BANTAMWEIGHT, because his structure was so flawless.  I'm not exactly saying Lil' Wayne's is "flawless," as there isn't enough developed yet to really tell, but all this came to mind when you mentioned eating one can of soup a day in your pre-teens and because of it being lean all your life.

The Carter II's pretty good.

I totally believe in that. If you started lifting at say 11-12 years of age and you lift and eat right continuing into your your teens up untill your early 20's, you just laid a great foundation. the natural test levels of your body at that time coupled with the lifting and eating means that whatever you created for yourself at that time will almost surely stay with you for the majority of your life.

If you dont start lifting until your 30 years of age but ate like shit and werent active prior to your 30th birthday then I highly doubt you will ever manage to get to where you could've been had you done it like the above example. Plus it becomes alot harder to hang onto to any gains you make later in life when your body wasnt conditioned for that type of thing for so many years.

Not true.  We're gonna turn Arvilla around.  Watch.  That's why I'm saying the potential here is so great.  Mike's not gonna be a pro...but he's capable of completely reversing his current situation, relatively speaking.

I'll bet anything the "details" go something like this....  240 and McJeff split the profits 50/50.  Arvilla, for his participation, gets a shiny new toaster for his trailer.

And he'll be fine with that.  ;D
