It wouldn't matter what songs were posted....you would still think Oasis songs were better.

It's all opinion.

You got a point. I'm a Beatles fan.

But do you honestly  like 5 Beatles songs over the Oasis ones I mentioned ..

If so I respect your opinion.

Hey Jude

Let it be

Happiness is a warm gun

Something

The long and winding road

The Beatles broke up nearly 45 years ago and they're as popular today as they were then, in 45 years nobody will remember Oasis. Nobody comes close to record sales, it's estimated that the Beatles sold over 1 billion records in the last 50 years.

You have to take yourself back to that time and compare their songs with the other music at that time. It was revolutionary and there was nothing like it. They took music to a whole new level.

He kind of has a point.... they sound dated.  Whereas other artists from around that same time still sound fresh and unique today.

Just my opinion, I'm sure some music historian can tear my post apart

i'm not even a big Beatles fan but randomly pick 5 of their tunes out of a hat and they'd probably all be better songs than Oasis' top 5.

oasis

18 years together

8 number 1's

beatles

7 years

17 number 1's

oasis were a half decent beatles tribute act who had a degree of musical influence on a british stage for a few years

the beatles influenced world music and culture and still do for 50 years

its an easy Beatles win

In April 1964 the Top 5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 were all Beatles records, I believe they had 20 No.1 singles in the US.

I don't mind the Beatles but much prefer The Beach Boys over them.

Beatles music is pretty much universal, yeah they were exceptional for their time but Oasis were the same up to Standing on the Shoulders of Giants. Everything they recorded to that point was gold and 30 years from now people will still be saying the same.

My top 5 (at the moment):

Morning Glory, Gas Panic (the live version from Familiar to Millions is exceptional), D'ya Know What i Mean, Slide Away, My Big Mouth

The Beatles popularity still confuses me.  They had 3-4 good bubble gum pop songs IMO.  To each his own, I guess.

You'd had to have been there to appreciate them; as far as this Oasis- I swear to God I have never even heard of them...

You do know that their name is a reference to all things gay! Not that there's anything wrong with that, just saying!

Oasis the near perfect description of a one hit wonder. The only reason there not is because the british had to have something in the age of grunge.

The beatles atleast on paper were one of the most perfect bands in history. The biggest flaw is drowning cat allowing paul maccarthy to take over.

70 million records sold, numerous #1 songs and albums and sold out tours for a decade. Ridiculous way to describe them. If you listen to their discography there are dozens of very good - excellent songs they have recorded. No band is everyone's taste but they can not be simply written off by anyone due to their success.

Granted but to compare them to the Beatles is fkng comical.  They owe their career to the Beatles

Tonnes of bands have catchy songs, they're simply not an interesting band. They're a one hit wonder that got picked up because of what was going on across the pond. The 90's was an era when the package (cd quality, music video, style etc) were just as important as the music.

A comparable band to oasis.

Oasis is big because the Gallagher brothers are marketing geniuses. Not because they are uber talented.

Without the Gallagher brothers blowing themselves up, Oasis would be nothing.

They are like Kanye West, but not nearly at his level.

The Gallaghers are the first to admit their career is due to the Beatles. Granted they werent the absolute best at what they did, but what they brought to the table made for a great time in British music. The only man above them from that era was Richard Ashcroft.

Their press was almost always negative due to fights etc, but their music from 95 - 02ish was phenomenal. Thats why they sold out 80,000 seat stadiums night after night.
