This claim was first made in 1885. No such luck so far.

I've worked for General Motors since 1985. In the late 80's GM started installing more and more robots. The big issue with a robot was if it went down it could be hours of lost production. If a person would go down they could immediately put another person on that operation with little or no down time. Lessons learned, many of those robots were removed.

Yep....the "Buick City" model. They were going to pump out Grand Ams by the minute without a human ever touching them.

Never quite came to fruition, but it was a good try.

whenever that happens, economy will need renewal of some sort.

maybe it can provide ppl to work less with just enough income and have more free time, but that would hurt the economy in 2 ways, ppl consume in their fre time and theyd have less to consume.

whats more worrysome is the day when military and police become operated by robots.

we will see

100 percent of jobs have been lost since 2000, that's simply how the economy works. Old jobs become redundant and new jobs find there way in.

Maybe if these robots were made in Japan u wouldn't have this problem

Please. When everybody in the late 90s went to school for IT jobs, they ship the jobs over to India.
None of these corporations WANT to pay Americans that good, sweet, rich cheesy money when they can find others who can do job for less.

That half true, most companies saw outsourcing as the way to get the job done at a cheaper price but at a cost. You get what you pay for. Now most companies are slowing down the amount of jobs they throw at India for example bc alot of the outsourced talent just isnt as good. Of course there are exceptional developers in India and other 3rd world countries but they don't represent the masses.

Take the banking industry, alot of banks/brokerage firms want developers who also understand business ( Trading and such) but its hard to find the combo of talented developer + business knowledge.

I read that by 2020, most companies will dramatically lower the amount of jobs they sent overseas
