Don't think they will make the finals but caught this gem today.
The Portland Trail Blazers were very high on Damian Lillard coming out of Weber State in the 2012 NBA Draft. But even they couldn’t have expected Lillard to play as well as he did, capturing the 2012-13 NBA Rookie of the Year award in near unanimous fashion.
It was a freshman season to remember for Lillard as he not only joined Oscar Robertson and Allen Iverson as the lone rookies to record at least 1,500 points and 500 assists in a season, but he also broke Stephen Curry‘s rookie record for 3-pointers made, with 185.
Now five games into his sophomore campaign, Lillard is at it again – this time though – he’s all alone in his record breaking quests.
According to the NBA’s Twitter page, Lillard became the first player in NBA history to put up 100 points, 25 rebounds, 25 assists, and 20 3-pointers in his team’s first 5 games:
Per Elias, @Dame_Lillard became the 1st NBA player to ever record 100pts, 25rbs, 25asts & 20 3-pointers in his team’s 1st 5 gms.
As if his prior accomplishments weren’t impressive enough.
