Would you rather be blind or deaf?

Easy, deaf. Bunch of deaf fam members and I already have hearing problems.

I was in Central America in 2005. I contracted a parasite that feeds off the cornea of your eye. it only attacks contact lens wearers. I got it diving.

by the time I got home and got it properly diagnosed it had taken half the good vision in my left eye (20/20 to 20/50) and had spread thru tears into my right eye. I could have lost my eyesight completely. the top cornea surgeon in the country said he's only seen it a handful of times in his entire career. I was very lucky.

so ya. deaf for sure. potentially losing your eyesight is a very scary, horrible thing.

I'd rather lose my hearing.

But if I had a choice i'd rather be blind from birth rather than deaf. Blind people can still envision the world with their other senses and with heightened ability of those senses too.

the proposition of the question does not say whither you have always or become blind or deaf

if you are blind you cant see very well (not all "blind" people are totally blind) but others can see you are
If you are deaf then unless others know you are likely to be very isolated and depending on when you become deaf you may also lose the ability to speak (for how will you hear your self?)

good point.....if you were born blind, you are a much different person than if you were born with it and loose it later on in life....steve wonder was born blind, but his ability with music was awesome....his hearing is more advanced than most people......but in the case of Beethoven, the greatest musician who ever lived, he started loosing his hearing in his mid-forties until he lost them completely by the age of 50, his condition would have been treated in this day and age....he must have been thru hell. loosing his hearing, the very sense all musicians need....stories said how he wrote letters to his friends about committing suicide because he could only feel his compositions internally and only felt vibrations

Deaf for sure. I dated a deaf girl back in the day for over a year. She didn't talk much and made loud sounds in the bedroom that reminded me of a dolphin hahaha ..  first couple times she got mad cause at some point she'd make a sound that made me laugh. Women apparently don't like when you start laughing during sex

This means when people are looking into your eyes and not you seeing them. I guess if you were blind you'd have to figure out some other way to see other people's soul. BTW the other part of this saying is that you mouth reveals who you've become.

Lou came to speak at my college about overcoming disabilities.  I'm glad they put the words to his speech on a screen for the deaf people because i couldn't understand what the fuck he was saying either.
