clowninchief to present a "fix" today
« on: November 14, 2013, 07:08:13 AM »

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that President Barack Obama will offer a fix to Obamacare problems as soon as today.

“I think it can be done administratively. The president will offer a proposal today, is my understanding,” Pelosi said at the World Ideas Forum, hosted by The Atlantic.

Obama on Thursday is traveling to Cleveland to speak at a steel plant there.

Pelosi seemed to suggest that Obama will propose an administrative solution, which is significant because a growing number of Democrats are supporting a legislative fix.

Meanwhile, Pelosi also said congressional Democrats are working on a separate solution.

“We have our own proposal, which we think is really good,” she said. “I think that we’ll see in the next 24, 48, 36 hours something to the effect of how do we accommodate those people.”

This ought to be good.

What kind of fix can he propose now in order to "accomodate" those people that have lost their insurance BECAUSE OF HIS OWN ACTIONS.

He'll fuck it up by coming across as an arrogant incompetent jackass and send his approval ratings even lower.

Exactly. They don't 'accomodate' anyone or anything that doesn't do what they want 100%.

It won't be a fix.

He will probably announce that the individual mandate be delayed for another year.

He doesn't have the power to force insurance companies to offer the same insurance policies that have been cancelled. Those policies are gone. How can those companies give those same policies when they are outlawed by crapcare?

At one time I thought they could. But, like libtards like to remind us, "it is the law and you can't change it!"

That's another thing. How come libtards claim that because crapcare is a law the GOP can't try to defund or repeal it, but the community organizer can keep changing it's deadlines, delaying mandates and refuse to implement it fully as it was written? I thought it was the law. Why does he keep violating that law?

Now there are rumors that the "fix' is to extend the cancellation dates.

Kick the can down the road.

Like I said it is not a fix.

It gives AN OPTION to insurance companies to continue the policies for ANOTHER YEAR.

SO it is up to insurance companies and it's TEMPORARY. Then the dumocrats will turn around and blame insurance companies for not re-enrolling those people.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/11/14/obama-sell-canceled-policies
Bowing to pressure, President Barack Obama on Thursday announced changes to his health care law that would give insurance companies the option to keep offering consumers plans that would otherwise be canceled.

The administrative changes are good for just one year, though senior administration officials said they could be extended if problems with the law persist. Obama announced the changes at the White House.

Obama has been under enormous pressure from congressional Democrats to give ground on the cancellation issue under the health care overhaul, a program likely to be at the center of next year's midterm elections for control of the House and Senate.

It's unclear what the impact of Thursday's changes will be for the millions of people who have already had their plans canceled. While officials said insurance companies will now be able to offer those people the option to renew their old plans, companies are not required to take that step.

Insurance companies will be required to inform consumers who want to keep canceled plans about the protections that are not included under those plans. Customers will also be notified that new options are available offering more coverage and in some cases, tax credits to cover higher premiums.

Under Obama's plan, insurance companies would not be allowed to sell coverage deemed subpar under the law to new customers, marking a difference with legislation that House Republicans intend to put to a vote on Friday.

Only last week, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told a Senate panel she doubted that retroactively permitting insurers to sell canceled policies "can work very well since companies are now in the market with an array of new plans. Many have actually added consumer protections in the last three-and-a-half years."

Republicans were unimpressed with the changes.

House Speaker John Boehner, speaking in advance of the president's announcement, insisted it was time to "scrap this law once and for all."

"You can't fix this government-run health care plan called Obamacare . ... It's just not fix-able."

State insurance commissioner rejects Obama’s proposal to extend canceled policies

State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler has rejected President Obama’s proposal to allow insurance companies to extend health insurance policies for people who have received notices that their policies will be cancelled at the end of the year.

Within two hours of President Obama’s news conference announcing the proposed administrative fix for Americans upset by their policy cancellations, Kreidler issued a statement rejecting the proposal.

“I understand that many people are upset by the notices they have recently received from their health plans and they may not need the new benefits [in the Affordable Care Act] today,” he said. “But I have serious concerns about how President Obama’s proposal would be implemented and more significantly, its potential impact on the overall stability of our health insurance market.”

“I do not believe his proposal is a good deal for the state of Washington,” Kreidler’s statement continued. “We will not be allowing insurance companies to extend their policies.”(continued)

This is the problem. The "fix" is not a solution. It compounds the problem.

How are insurance companies going to start renewing or enrolling these people? They have go back through all those policies, send people their refunds if the policy canceled midterm, send new papework to them and make sure that their own computer system has the correct information of these customers and resubmit all this information in compliance with their state's commission for banking and insurance.

The government had three years to set up a website and tfailed. How are they going to expect insurance companies to undo months of work in 31 days?

What do you mean?  Am I understanding what "clownchief" wants to do here?

Insurance companies are now allowed to continue and/or renew policies that don't comply with ACA.

Isn't that what most people were complaining about, mostly?

Insurance companies will NOT, however, be able to enroll new folks in these policies.  So that would seem to indicate that the "months of work" were not in vain.

We'll see what happens now.  I think this was a very clever move by ol' clownchief:  If the insurance companies go one way, it's good for the consumers.  If the insurance companies go the other way, it brings us that much closer to the public option/single payer.

Yeah, that is what people are complaining about. But, NO, what the president offered as a "fix" is not a solution. Just getting up there on a dais and saying that they can continue the policies doesn't mean THAT IT IS ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. Which is why he said that insurance companies have a CHOICE.

Also, it will not be a solution for everyone. There are already state insurance commisioners stating that they can not go back and renew the policies. They are already too far along the process of implementing the new law. The law that according to libtards no one can touch. That law.

This is all just a political stunt by the clowninchief in order to pass the responsibility unto the insurance companies. When a lot of those people, whose policies have been cancelled, see that their policies are not being renewed, the president will blame insurance companies. He will remind people that he got up there one day and gave insurance the option to continue the coverages. He will point to the EVILLLLLLLLLLLL insurance companies. Except he won't remind people that he lied 29 times with assurances that no one who likde their insurance would lose their coverage, that his law forced insurance companies to cancel those policies and that insurance companies are only following the new sacred law that can't be amended, repealed or defunded.

His words are empty.

Anyone who can't see what it's going on here, anyone who can't see the political games being played by democrats is definitely blind.

It's not a fix.  He gave state insurance commissioners the option to allow insurance companies to renew policies, and then only until an undetermined time into 2014 (likely after the midterm elections).  Insurance commissioners have balked.  It's a total scam.

lol

From the article:
“The action today undercuts the purpose of the exchanges, including the District’s DC Health Link, by creating exceptions that make it more difficult for them to operate,” White said in a Thursday statement. He agreed with reports that Obama's order "threatens to undermine the new market, may lead to higher premiums and market disruptions in 2014 and beyond."

White told the Washington Post that he was never explicitly told that he was being let go for his critical statement, but that it was hard to ignore the timing. White said he was “basically being told, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’"

The man was telling the truth. He should not have apologized. All apologies should only come from the current administration to the american people.

Scam? You sure?  What's your definition of "scam"?  Imo, it's a very clever strategy, but it's no scam.  (Who's getting scammed here?  Seems like a pretty good deal for everyone except the insurance industry -- And those fuckers shouldn't even exist, imo.)

It's funny, people were saying that Obama was dumb to throw in with the insurance industry but now it seems it was the insurance industry that was dumb to throw in with him.  BruthaInChief is slick, it seems.

It's actually so clever that I'm tempted to think it was all completely planned out from the start.  (I'll stop short of believing that, though, lest I end up over on the CT board with Coach.)

Re: the "fix", the insurance industry was saying that they were cancelling policies not because they wanted to but because those policies were no longer legal under ACA, right?  So now, if they refuse to renew these policies they wanted to cancel, we know why, don't we?

I can't wait to see what the next move in this soap opera will be.

It's a scam because the millions of cancelled policies are not going to be reinstated, then he will try and shift blame to insurance companies.  It's a scam because even those polices, if any, that do get reinstated, may have higher premiums.  It's a scam because the only reason he did it was to try and head off the vote in the House on the "If You Like Your Plan, You Can Keep Your Plan" bill.

He's such a calculating fraud.  A genuine Chicago politician.

Not a scam, to my way of thinking.

Perhaps an attempt to bamboozle, hornswoggle, or hoodwink.  But not scam.  No one's getting cheated out of anything.

And I LIKE that the president is intelligent and calculating.  Just wish civil rights were more important to him.
