Mindspin's decision on Ronnie vs. Dorian...
« on: January 04, 2006, 11:34:28 AM »
After reading the endless banter on which of these two is best & giving it careful thought, I have concluded that Ronnie, at his best, would have beaten Dorian.  Ronnie is the greatest Mr. O.

That is all.

Mindspin, I agree also. I think if you want mass with class, Ronnie circa 2003 was unbeatable. If you want shape, aesthetics and size (although only about 250 lb's), 1998-1999 Ronnie was the man.  However, I would say that Dorian in 1993 when he was his best would have taken Ronnie in 2001, 2004.  However, at their best, Ronnie is the one.

what a totally redundant thread.... dorian always anihilated coleman in competition .. now ronnie is mr O in a different era .. its not valid to compare backwards.

for instance ... lee haney beat dorian fair n square in 91 .. but dorian took it to a new level in the followin mr O  era ... dorian at his peak would have crushed haney .. but haney was the better bodybuilder cuz he had the lockdown in his time and saw off dorian with aplomb!

same goes for the dorian /coleman head to heads... it was an embarrasin mismatch! coleman who??

the fact that a bodybuilder from a previous era (yates) is still fightin for the hearts n minds of current bodybuildin fans sans coleman speaks volumes to how monstrous dorian was. people just cant get over his freaky grained mass and obsess about it even today!

ill say it again .. dorian in 93 makes coleman look like a watery pissbag!

maybe smaller (only slight) but what dya expect from a previous 'era' ... dorian is shockin even to todays fans !
hence the endless comparisons with the current mr 0 and his grotesque abs that look like a badly pinched loaf !  ;)

dorian rewrote the book .. coleman is merely surfin his wave!

i dont know how many times we have to have this debate on here - it is called natural progression - doesnt neccesaily mean the most recent one is better they are just the best of there era, with the current methods (in this case, drugs etc) available. For instance, in athletics, is asafa powell a better athlete than carl lewis was coz he has run faster 15 or 20 yrs later? Or in swimming is michael phelps a better athlete than mark spitz was coz he swam faster 20 or 30 yrs later? I dont know why it cant just be left as the best of their time their are that many different variables as time progresses that it cant really be compared.

if ronnie is better than dorian why couldnt he challenge doz in their endless head to heads ??

dorian dominated in a far more competitve era.. ronnie was lost in the numbers.

now hes just walkin ' hangin beef' fendin off the feeble competiton .

ll be glad when ron retires .. and aother monster from nowhere emerges with a new and advanced druggin regimine and takes it to whole new level ... we'll be havin the same cretinous and pointless debates then.

dont tell me.. no-one will ever be  as big as ronster right !  ::)

they've said that about every champ!  ;)

doz pwned ronnie with ease over many years n comps  ... end of !

I totally agree. Dorian has beaten ronnie several times. In his prime, ronnie would win tho. But will they compete now a days? no chance.

Ronnie is NOT the greatest Mr. Olympia of all time.

Arnold or possibly Sergio represent the pinnacle of what someone could look like.

Dorian, and Ronnie to a greater extent represent how distorted someone can get by taking drug use and food to a disgusting level.

But, in current standards Ronnie would beat Dorian.

I laugh at these ridiculous "Dorian beat Ronnie many times" crap because Ronnie was nowhere near his peak at the time.

By that argument, Frank Zane (yes, the swimmer) would have beaten Arnold every time they met because Frank Zane beat Arnold in competition ::)

The greatest Mr. Olympia was Frank Zane. His proportions and conditioning were excellent.

yup, he beat Arnold when they met. Therefore, he would have beaten Arnold everytime they met. and would have crushed Ronnie and Dorian too.

It is classy of you to admit this. Frank also looked good in COLOR and ON STAGE, which would have helped him beat Dorian. It would have been close with Ronnie though, because he also looks good in COLOR and ON STAGE.
