shit  another heart attack  :(

Del Rosario collapsed in his home and was rushed to a local emergency room where he was resuscitated and is currently in critical condition, according to Jason House, the fighter’s representative at Iridium Sports.

“Shane had a catastrophic cardiovascular collapse at home on Tuesday morning,” House wrote in a text message. “He was brought to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated in the emergency room back to a stable heart rhythm and blood pressure. He is currently in the coronary care unit critically ill. Our prayers are with him and his family.”

One of my close friends, Stipe Miocic, fought him in UFC.  Shane is young, any other background info?  Sad to hear...wonder if he had family history of early heart dz.

“Yesterday [Tuesday] there was very little hope for him to even make it past that day,” Apple told Sherdog.com. “It was down to the point where his liver and kidneys weren’t functioning. He was on dialysis. They had to give him the maximum amount of medication that they can just so they could get his blood pressure at an acceptable level.

“Since then, he’s actually had some positive signs. No. 1, his kidneys are functioning...he doesn’t have any problems with his organs right now as far as I know,” Apple added. “Early this morning they began weaning him of off the blood pressure medication.”

Damn. I wonder how/why?

According to Apple, del Rosario was found at home by his roommate, UFC flyweight Ian McCall. McCall called 911 and administered CPR to del Rosario before he was taken to the hospital. Apple says that del Rosario had no prior health issues with his heart.

This is the worst part. Who knows how long he was out. The longer they go without being treated the more scar tissue forms in the heart and without oxygen higher chance of brain damage.

Yes there must be a scape goat, can't admit drugs aren't perfectly healthy.

people reporting that the espn report was wrong.

espn now denies writing the report.

his cousin says he's still alive and on life support.

i saw that on Twitter in the early hours of this morning, Bas Rutten had made a comment of condolence and all of a sudden everyones bitching about it being false cos ESPN apparently didnt write it. He has no brain function, my friend passed away last year after 7 days of the same thing. No response, they had to let him go.

Ratard, I'm with you, most anabolics are a direct factor responsible for early cardiovascular disease and death.  Shane fought heavyweight (at least last couple yrs) so weight cutting isn't much of an issue and most UFC guys these days aren't on a lot of steroids.  He didn't look like Overeem either so steroid related death less likely.  Someone having/dying of a massive heart attack that young is unusual, that's why I wondered if there were other factors.

Shane is a friend. I was getting text updates last night. Extremely limited/no brain activity, only breathing via machine.

Very unfortunate. Good dude.

Ok, right here from the horses mouth not longer thank 10 min ago. Ironically I'm at Hoag hospital with my mother who was admitted last night. My son AMD I just came back from lunch. In the waiting room I see a few what looked like MMA fighters sitting and I thought new this is where Shane at. I walked by, then went back to ask, as I walked back I ran into Shanes father who gave me the details.

1. Shane did NOT have a heart attack: it was a sudden death syndrome.

2. He is on life support and does have brain activity, but not much.

3. His prognosis is day to day.

4. There is a family history of this but this was the worst case in the family. Others would just pass out.

His father is very disappointed in press releasees. He would tell them one thing and it would be reported as something else. But....he is still alive.
