That's really great to watch.

At 7, that's pretty accomplished playing. It's fun to see a little kid work on his mechanics and fluidity behind the kit...you can see where he's pushed beyond his comfort zone yet still recover, which is a lot of fun when you teach music to a kid - they have an endless desire to keep practicing over and over again until it sounds the way it does in their head...it's just that their little bodies can't keep up with their minds. But you can also see the joy of making music at a young age written all over his face, which is really cool. But age 7, you can also know he's only going to get way better. By age 12, if he stays on it and stays passionate, he could be doing some ridiculous polyrhythmic things. If he gets the right coaching and mentorship, that is. One to watch. .

On his page his progression from age three is amazing and he has already been on some pretty big stages with the likes of Brad Paisley.  Having sponsorships at such a young age will also open doors to the best coaches. Triplets are insane at that age and he is a very relaxed drummer which is good.

I really enjoyed your post snx.

My daughter went through college on a violin performance scholarship, got scholarship money for her MA and plays in a country band that just released a single.

You just never know what kids will do when exposed to instruments!  ;)

LOL! I willed my beater kit over to the kids for christmas this year. They don't get to play on the nice stuff.

They are beating the hell out of it.

But I can tell early on they're not into it. It's a novelty, but not a passion. Kids who love to play love it out of the gate; most kids pick up an instrument and it sounds neat, but don't have the passion to commit to learning an instrument. Which is ok...playing music isn't for everybody. I wanted to make sure my kids had the exposure I did, but I'm not pushing them into it. If they show passion and commitment, I'll nurture it; if not, it's on to whatever that next thing is they think they might like.

I felt drawn to playing drums long before I ever got a chance to sit behind a kit. It was a compulsion.

I was playing on trash cans and whatever else I could bang on.  My parents eventually got me an old Rogers kit which I wish I still had!

I do enjoy my old Pork Pie.

That's a nice little kit there.

I'm always interested to get behind a kit like the one this little kid plays. He reaches the pedals so effortlessly. Is it just a shrunken down kit? Are there lifts on the pedals? Have you ever seen how they do this?

I remember my first kit at 11. It was a set of Linko drums, with one lonely tired old crash cymbal. I still have it (enhanced with new hardware and cymbals for the kids, but the cans themselves are still the same old tired cheap pressboard shells). I both loved and hated them; I loved them because they were mine and I knew I was going to be great because I had my own kit. But I hated them because those damned Sabian catalogues made me lust after Vinny Appice's monster kits! LOL - love those 80s!

My Porker has a 24" bass so small from a 4pc perspective but booming from a sound/volume perspective.

My Rogers was a 3pc and I was so sad that it had no floor tom and no hi hat!  I eventually did fill it in.  If you go to his YT page he went to an adult kit at 5 with everything lowered.  In some of his vids he jumps on other people kits and has to reach for the cymbals lol!

I remember going to a KISS concert and marveling at the size of the drum kit lol!  I've never ventured past a 4 or 5 piece kit.

Lol holy backache!

i get the powered QSC stuff... it's only 40 pounds for the speakers, 80 pounds for the subs.  Easy when you're a superhero getbigger in a world of beta twink smoker musicians.

drums... forget that... too many trips carrying all that crap, too much setup

What I love most about this kid is he is feeling this shit. He's in the pocket and knows it and feels incredible. This kid is going places.
