He probably had the mass to compete with today's pros but his structure let him down somewhat. He was a little narrow in the clavicle area coupled with his massive legs overpowering his upper body. But having said that he was awesome when he won the nationals ('87 if I remember correctly - I  think a certain Mr. Ray won the overall ;) )

Very brief pro career... Here today, gone tomorrow.

It appears he simply couldn't handle the large amount of drugs necessary to maintain that physique.

For a man his size, he posed very well.  His only flaw was that he was very narrow

He was way ahead of his time.  He had some sick wheels.  I always wondered why he retired so soon.  He won his 1st pro show, the 1988 NOC (beating Robinson, Ray, Beckles...) and then only competed 2 more years.  He was probably still in his twenties.

thats really impressive - based on the few names that you mentioned, i would assume that the 88 NOC was one hell of a line up!!

Phil hill has crazy thick full leg's,turned pro easily after winning noc couldn't get in same shape again, hard to imagine.that's how good ray really was that he took national's overall at 21 and at light hvy, longevity is very rare and tough even back in 80's when drug usage was used but maybe not as reckless as today, cycle's were actually cycled,80's bber's were no saint's just maybe smarter.

That was a great show.

My fave guy was the side kick guy, was his name Frank? That guy was intense!

I think Wahl's character played someone called Vinnie Terranova, real cool sounding name, just as Phil Hill is BTW. Wiseguy kicked some serious ass, no doubt.

Why the hells don't they make quality shows like Wiseguy and Spenser anymore?! Spenser had that cool side kick Hawk. Black bald dude with goatee, a fcukin' killer.

seems like all the actors like Ken Wahl, Robert Urich and Tom Selleck have been replaced by the young looking pretty boys, different time i guess.

I read somewhere Ken Wahl had a pretty bad motorbike accident in the early 1990s, which left him with chronic back/spine pain.

He got hooked on pain killers, got into a serious depression and put a pile of weight and his acting career, unsurprisingly, went down the toilet.
