Kobe always has Nike throw in little touches that have symbolic meaning to him.  I have quite a few pairs of Kobe shoes but these ones look like snow shoes so I'm gonna sit these out.  I like low cut shoes.  I'm assuming the theory is that these new ones will offer Kobe some additional achilles/ankle support.  I doubt they are designed to celebrate and encourage Achilles tears.  lol.

I believe high tops have been shown to help incur knee injuries? As they make the ankle less mobile, which means the knee is torqued more. If I am not correct, please correct me.

As a guy that blew his AT the exact same way that Kobe did, I look at those stupid shoes and think how uncomfortable they would be. The area around the surgery is very prone to edema months after the surgery. All that swelling in high-tops that look like they were made to bind seems dumb.

That said, I might have to get a pair! My ortho always referred to my injury as a "Kobe Special"
