Wiggs, Why do you even want to live after the apocalypse?
« on: December 12, 2013, 01:39:22 PM »
You keep on mentioning how the world is going to end and you are ready for it.  Why?  Anything that would wipe out mankind would pretty much destroy everything on the surface of the earth.  Do you want to spend the rest of your life sifting through debris and garbage?  The scent of decomposing bodies would be enough to make you vomit, pass out and die choking on it.  I never understood those weirdos that want to live in a bunker for 10 years eating canned food and freeze dried meats and vegtables.  With all of your friend and family dead, no electricty, no pornhub, no costco, no running water,  just living like a filthy animal wallowing through shit, blood, guts and rotting flesh.  What's the point?

Humans are animals and all life forms are programmed to defend themselves at the expense of other life forms, as a result we will indeed destroy ourselves, the planet, or another planet after colonizing it, it cannot be otherwise, thats just life; life kills, life is war , life is struggling for survival until you can reproduce , then you teach your strategies of survival to your offspring and you disapear. OH and btw if we dont destroy everything some random "natural" cataclysm will anyway.

There is a Narrative layer to this world. The people left feel compelled to live and pass on the story of where we came from and where we are going...

No skin off your nose that almost everyone else is dead and the civilized world is destroyed?  Fuck yes?

Man, if you found yourself so situated I'd venture you'd piss your pants in fear and horror.

Fuck, yes.

Less competition.

I withdraw my desire to live in such a world if there all infrastructure, valuables and natural resources etc. are destroyed..That's unlikely though.  I'll accept the risks so far as lack the lack of law and order..Fuck, enough thinking. Let me dream bro lol.

Canned food..With a drastically reduced population, lasts a while..Enough time to plan for the future, near unlimited graze-land for animals.  Now if there's 315 mil+ Mexico fighting for canned food on the shelves then hell no I don't want to exist, haha.  Hence the 'ala walking dead' comment.

It's not an apocalypse, it's an adventure.

Wiggs may end up being an "Auntie Mae" sort of character like in Thunderdome.  Who run Barter Town?

well there s a reason why we invented jobs, sport, porn, video games , art, music etc. To forget about the sad truth that we re just animals, to stay busy, occupied, in the flow, playing the game without questioning its rules. We definitely are funny animals who spend their lives pretending they re not animals only to realize in their last breath they indeed, are.

dinosaurs , as dumb as they were, lasted way, way way longer than we probably will. Just because we "evolve" fast doesnt mean we re going to last long. And just because we exist doesnt mean we have a purpose. Our only purpose is to insure our own survival, just like any other kind of life form that exists in the universe.

I don't believe anyone ever made a conscious decision to develop economy, technology etc. with the idea of attempting to 'forget' we're animals.  Of course we're animals, but..Believe it or not, humans, while at their essence and in absence of abundance are motivated primarily by self preservation...We are in fact special, we are empathetic...we want to be empathetic, we want to be kind, we can think, we can create, we can work toward a better world.  You are correct that taking away all our innovations, modern infrastructure...people would do things even the most bestial of animals would not to survive.  On this blessed planet however, that is currently not necessary and let's just enjoy it, make the world and people the best they can be. Not dwell on the fact that we are animals and have basic needs to be satisfied in order for civilization to exist.
