Name Your Top 2 Sitcoms Of All Time
« on: December 13, 2013, 10:45:00 AM »
I'm looking or a new sitcom to watch. I just finished all of Curb Your Enthusiasm and before that I had just finished It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Two shows I would have never watched if it wasn't for this forum actually.  :D

Sunny in Philly is my favorite of all time now.

Right now I'm currently finishing up FRIENDS...I'm on season nine of ten....and it's awesome as well.

So I'm going to need a new one to start up.

I don't need suggestions for dramas...I'm currently watching Deadwood (great) and have a ways to go before I need a new drama.

I like watching one sitcom and one drama.

I was thinking Entourage but would love some more suggestions.

Name your top two...give a girl some ideas!

I like watching ongoing programming. When I'm working I don't watch any TV for 14 days straight....but then I have 14 days off and I usually watch one episode of a drama and one of a sitcom.

I watch less than an hour and half a day...but I do enjoy sitting down and watching TV. So many people say "It's such a waste of time"  ::)....but it's one of the simple entertaining things in life. Mindless and relaxing.

So stop with the silly questions and give me your top two sitcoms!

Hmmm...I saw lots of Cheers as a child.....good show.

Taxi....what kind of humor is that?

Thank you.

Adult humor. And a young Danny Devito is in it as well.

If you like Sunny, you'll probably really like Shameless on SHO, but it's not really a sitcom.

2) Office/Two and a half men

Two and a half men had a chance till they lost Charlie Sheen. Now it sucks.

Can't forget Married with Children too... Awesomeness.

Great suggestions!

Seinfeld, Simpsons, Family Guy and The Office....they are always being rerun on TV so I often catch them if I put the TV on for "background" when I'm cooking/cleaning, etc. All of these I do want to watch from beginning to end one day.

However NIGHT COURT.....what an outasite suggestion! I saw that as child and loved it so maybe I'll give that a try.

I've seen some shameless...it's awesome...another good suggestion.

Overall favorite in terms of funniness and consistency is probably Arrested Development. Have only seen 3 episodes of Season 4 and I think I'll leave it at that. S1-3 are absolutely mindblowing, though. Surprised nobody mentioned it yet.

It's Always Sunny I only watched (completely) rather recently. At its best it's really a great, great show, but there is a handful of episodes that simply didn't do anything for me - especially in the later seasons.

Two other shows that are consistently watchable, never really great, never really bad, would be 30 Rock and Scrubs (at least seasons 1-4).

Don't know if it's possible for you to get some of the classic Britcoms, since if I got this right you're watching when it's on TV rather than doing it properly (pirating), but Father Ted, Black Books, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, and the British version of IT Crowd (at least most of it) should be mentioned. Especially Father Ted might be a bit quirky for most, but I'd say it's worth a watch.

The only British show that was ever any good was Benny Hill.
