How long will the world's oil last?
« on: December 14, 2013, 02:03:16 AM »
'Oil took millions of years to form and the oil supplies in the ground won't last forever.

The oil fields already discovered hold over 1 million million barrels of oil (1,000,000,000,000).

Although we are using oil quite quickly, the reserves go up every year. This is because more oil is discovered and new ways are found of extracting oil that couldn't be got out before.

Even so, our oil won't last forever. At the moment, the world uses about 26,000,000,000 barrels every year. At this rate, there should be enough oil for at least another 40 years.

It is likely that more oil will be discovered in that time.

Oil companies are always searching for new oil fields and there are still lots more deep sea areas to explore.'

In 40 years ill ve dead or near death and the furthest ill venture is the local working mans club to fritter away my meagre pension, thus no need for oil.

i wouldnt worry too much, can stockpile a barrel or so at home, but according to history there has been great kingdoms and all tht before the discovery and use of oil on wide scale.

in case it runs out we can just use nuclear powered wooden cars or something.

World proven oil reserves are 66% greater today than in 1992.  This is sufficient to meet 54 years of global production.

Doesn't matter. Combustion vehicles are the past.

There are advances on the supply side like deep water drilling and unconventional oil in the form of tight oil shales, oil sands, and heavy oil.

However there are also advances on the consumption side like hybrids, plug in hybrids, and electric cars.

The CEO of Exxon said twenty years ago people would not have been able to predict the advances in finding and extracting oil that we've seen in the last twenty years.

Peak oil is a myth!  America has met 87 percent of its energy needs this year and is on track to be energy independent in the next ten years.  U.S. oil production this year is the highest it's been in 24 years.

It can`t be a myth.  Oil is a finite resource.

It can`t be a myth.  Oil is a finite resource.

In 2009, Dr. Christoph Rühl, chief economist of BP, argued against the peak oil hypothesis:[174]

Physical peak oil, which I have no reason to accept as a valid statement either on theoretical, scientific or ideological grounds, would be insensitive to prices. (...) In fact the whole hypothesis of peak oil – which is that there is a certain amount of oil in the ground, consumed at a certain rate, and then it's finished – does not react to anything.... Therefore there will never be a moment when the world runs out of oil because there will always be a price at which the last drop of oil can clear the market. And you can turn anything into oil into if you are willing to pay the financial and environmental price... (Global Warming) is likely to be more of a natural limit than all these peak oil theories combined. (...) Peak oil has been predicted for 150 years. It has never happened, and it will stay this way.

The real answer to this question is obvious.  Oil is and always has been BLACK!  It's blackness is what gives it it's fluidity, it's lubricositzingness.  Oil is one of the natural elements given to us by the Black Gods.  It's color cannot be whitified although it's true name was hidden by the caucasional devils.

The Original name for Mammy Earf's lube of love was Afroleum.

Afroleum's total Blackness ensures it will never run dry.  It is self replicating.  It is forever Black and slicker than a 70s pimp.

Now you know the troof and as such you be free.

Why put the use of natural law into our service when we can make everyone dependent of that primitive mean of energy and exploit it to maximum effect?

Thing about the gaping holes left when we pump out the oil.  Parts of the world are going to collapse inwards.
