She probably did deserve a harsher sentence but blame one can only blame our pathetic justice system.

Even if she served 25 years, she shouldn't quit living her life.

She's young, beautiful and full of life. She made a tragic mistake.

I agree....justice does not seem to have been served in this case.

But she can't dwell on her mistake. She needs to go on and it looks like she has.

I for one think the punishment was not harsh enough (from the little I know of the case) but this is what our justice system has become. I don't blame the family for seeking out attention.....Nicole deserves harsher.

She did break the law. That is inattentive driving. In most states that is at the minimum careless driving if it wasn't a conscience decision to drive dangerously. She made a conscience decision to retrieve a phone making her act reckless. Different states use different verbiage but it's not semantically different.  In civil court she is going to lose big.

Pay attention to the road you whore.  Yesterday I was a split second away from punching some whore in the face.  She was stopped ahead of me at a stop light and I can see her combing her hair.  The light turns green and she's still brushing.  I honk my car and she continues brushing.  I put my car in park and was about to open the door and get to and she then realizes the light is green and bolts off.  I was fucking furious.  This whore had no choice but to comb her hair driving?

 A motorist who was reportedly trying to retrieve her cellphone when she struck and killed a woman crossing Ridgewood Avenue in Port Orange should face more punishment than a traffic citation, according to the victim's relatives.

 Nicole K. Nagrani, 21, was heading south on South Ridgewood Avenue in her sport utility vehicle on April 11, 2013, when she hit Leona E. Daniluk as the 78-year-old Port Orange resident tried to walk across the highway at White Place. But a traffic homicide investigation concluded that Nagrani's actions were not reckless, a standard needed for a vehicular homicide charge.

 Nagrani's attorney, Tim Herring, drove to the accident site and told police that “... Nagrani was not using her cellular phone at the time of the crash, but that the phone had fallen and she was attempting to retrieve it.”

Daniluk's daughter, Tina Melnicoff, said a ticket was insufficient and that Nagrani should serve some prison time.

“I don't see no fairness of it, if she does get a ticket,” Melnicoff said. “She should get more than a ticket. The girl, if she was paying attention that morning driving instead of trying to retrieve her cellphone, she would have had time to stop or swerve or even hit the median."
