I'm amazed at how society has changed so quickly.  I was talking to this high school teacher I know and he was mentioning how they are doing some school function and some popular kid is going to come out of the closet.  He was telling me how supportive and excited everyone is for him.

I had to think.  When I went to Highschool, doing something like that surely meant daily beatings.  I don't think the prinicpal woul have wanted an openly gay student at our school.  It's just amazing at how today it is a big deal when not that long ago it wasn't accepted.  He's telling me that the gays act straight up gay and don't get judged.  I'm pretty sure there were a ton of cockmunchers in my highschool but they hid it well, not parading around with a neon sign telling everyone they're gay.

Eh.  I'd rather its this way.  High school can be a horrible experience for some kids...no kid should have their life be a living hell every day when they go to fkng school to get educated

People shouldn't have to "come out" they should just be.

There are way more gays out there than you realize they just look and act normal. It is the flames that give the bad name. Ask OMR.

Yeah the world is changing and us 30-somethings are no longer of the high school generation so we're not used to this.

Mind you, I'm pretty sure there are loads of schools (certainly in the UK) where there's no way in hell a kid would come out of the closet. Don't forget, this is the social-media generation where every teenager has a cell-phone and is tapping away on Facebook and Twitter every five minutes and there's a shitload of bullying going on at schools even worse than we used to experience it. I'm glad we had our time when we did and I'd fucking hate to be back at school with all that shit going on these days.

Annoying group. They don't fit in with the guy group because they think like girls and try to hit on guys. Then it becomes real akward. And they would fit in with the girls but the girls generally wont accept them.

I started out as an asshole bully in high school but then I became friends with a nerd in art class and it changed my attitude and I would stick up for them.  

Not like I was on a crusade or anything but I would try and get my friends to lay off them if they were really fucking with someone and it was way over the line...I would just be like "enough already dude, you had your fun leave the kid alone." Most guys would be like yeah you're right and lay off. I'm not joe tough guy or anything..nerds get picked on I just didn't like it when some guy is tormenting a kid relentlessly.

 What would really piss me off is if people picked on mentally handicapped kids.. that's just fucked up.. that being said some nerds are little shitheads and deserved what they got for running their mouths to people who can stuff them in an envelope

There's a secret strategy to preventing bullying that is not widely discussed.  It's called "adding 75lbs of lean muscle mass to your body".  For some reason when this happens bullying stops.
