Forgive my total ignorance Steve: are peds so important in mma sport?
Isn't it more important technique?

I see, so the old story popular in my times about too much muscle that will harm your speed is a myth I guess.

Hey, Mike Tyson was super fast on PED. All of his muscle did NOT slow him down.

Of course, there are always two sides. PED can have negatives as well.

Anabolics don't have a negative effects on speed by themselves, that is related to weight, water retention, how you train (explosiveness), and most importantly genetics.  The other benefit is healing.  That's likely why a lot of guys in their mid 30s want PEDs or HRT in MMA.  Arce and I can tell you the training is incredibly taxing both mentally and physically.  At 35+, the tendons, muscles, soft tissues don't heal as fast...not just from injuries but from daily hard training.

Why do you think athletes are tested for steroids in cycling, swimming, 100m dash, baseball etc?

They're called performance enhancers for a reason and you don't have to look like you're on them to get the benefits.
