This is from a book I'm reading about the Navy SEALS, of which Soul Crusher, not having served in the Navy or any other branch of the armed forces, was not one:

Looking back, I’m not sure that early test showed very much. There were a lot of heavily muscled, bodybuilding types who looked pretty ferocious. I remember they were among the very first to go, because they just couldn’t hack it. Their legs and upper bodies were just too heavy.

The SEALs do place a premium on brute strength, but there’s an even bigger premium on speed. That’s speed through the water, speed over the ground, and speed of thought. There’s no prizes for a gleaming set of well-oiled muscles in Coronado. Bulk just makes you slow, especially in soft sand, and that’s what we had to tackle every day of our lives, mile after mile.
Ha! That skill set totally took down/sunk our (posting) Admiral.   ;D

Just because you're a good fighter doesn't necessarily mean you're tough , I hope this helps.

try full-contact fighting and submission wrestling in prison for money for quite a few years.. fighting with broken bones and ignoring injuries (can't get a cast or stiches without getting put in the 'hole', so you learn how to sew your own cuts shut with sharpened guitar string and thin 'beading line').. no real 'rules', and where the solution to every problem is murder.. literally.. for some guys. so long as your willing to go further and harder than the other guy, you won't get fucked with.. but then you end up getting jumped by Indians and kneegrows and you gotta learn to "do your worst, fast and first".

 ;D  :-\

takes some effort to lose that mentality when you get out though.  :-\

Hahahahahahaha.  ;D

Best post of the thread.

I had to read it twice to figure out what the fuck was going on here.

Hmm. Seal team pics belie your comment, Admiral. Water bottle skills would be in 1st week/hazing I reckon.

Yes indeed Ghayos , guys like Chael Sonnen, Brock Lesnar...........  they look unstoppable when they are winning/dominating  but  they fold  like a little bitch  at  first sign of adversity .

True definition of toughness.

Like a motorcycle racer crashing  at high speed, and then  he stands up , jumps on the bike and keep racing.
