The wind chill was below zero in Dallas this morning and I'm supposed to believe this bullshit??

Global warming scientists forced to admit defeat... because of too much ice: Stranded Antarctic ship's crew will be rescued by helicopter
Chris Turney, a climate scientist and leader of the expedition, was going to document 'environmental changes' at the pole
In an interview he said he expected melting ice to play a part in expedition

They went in search evidence of the world’s melting ice caps, but instead a team of climate scientists have been forced to abandon their mission … because the Antarctic ice is thicker than usual at this time of year.
The scientists have been stuck aboard the stricken MV Akademik Schokalskiy since Christmas Day, with repeated sea rescue attempts being abandoned as icebreaking ships failed to reach them.
Now that effort has been ditched, with experts admitting the ice is just too thick. Instead the crew have built an icy helipad, with plans afoot to rescue the 74-strong team by helicopter.

Did they? I don't think that any serious scientist believed the earth to be flat, especially since around 300BC when the ancient Greeks showed not just that the earth was, in fact, (roughly) spherical, but actually calculated its circumference, with theoretical/philosophical arguments in support of a spherical earth date back to around 600BC.

But even if scientists did once think the earth was flat, so what? Scientists - the real kind, not the ones with quotes - don't claim to be infallible. They observe physical phenomena, formulate theories to explain them and use the theories to make predictions. If the predictions hold, the scientific community gains confidence in the theory. If the predictions don't hold, the theory is either adjusted to account for or explain the discrepancy, or it is abandoned if it cannot be fixed.

That's how science works. Mistakes don't doom science - they promote it, because they cause science to advance.

Um - I was referring to the adherence to the theories postulated by global warming/climate "scientists" as near gospel by the faith based liberal types who refuse to ever question whether these same scientists may in fact be wrong and that this entire hysteria over "climate change" is entirely over blown.

You don't need any more proof that man-made climate change is a hoax when you see this race baiter trying to prove it:

Not to mention, you know things like electricity, the internet, massive peer review and international collaboration, none of this existed then. error is reduced through quantity.

I wonder why the media doesn't report the nature of the ship's "mission". ::)

Frozen Out: 98% of Stories Ignore That Ice-bound Ship Was On Global Warming MissionBy Mike Ciandella | January 2, 2014 | 12:43

 26.3K 1851Reddit723 995 A  A

A group of climate change scientists were rescued by helicopter Jan. 2, after being stranded in the ice since Christmas morning. But the majority of the broadcast networks’ reports about the ice-locked climate researchers never mentioned climate change.

The Russian ship, Akademic Shokalskiy, was stranded in the ice while on a climate change research expedition, yet nearly 98 percent of network news reports about the stranded researchers failed to mention their mission at all. Forty out of 41 stories (97.5 percent) on the network morning and evening news shows since Dec. 25 failed to mention climate change had anything to do with the expedition

Still waiting for polar ice caps to melt. HEHEHEHEEH!!

Sea Ice Update February 17 2014 – Antarctic Sea Ice Extent Still 25% above normal Filed under: Antarctic Sea Ice,Arctic Sea Ice,Global Sea Ice — sunshinehours1 @ 7:11 AM
Tags: Antarctic Sea Ice, Antarctic Sea Ice Extent, Arctic Sea Ice, Global Sea Ice, record levels, sea ice extent

A quick update for sea ice extent:

•Global Sea Ice is 93,000 sq km below the 1981-2010 mean.  That is 0.5% below “normal”
•Antarctic Sea Ice is  706,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean. That is 25% above ”normal”.  Antarctic Sea Ice Extent actually rose 38,000 sq km from day 46 to day 47. Minimum could be near.
•Arctic Sea Ice is 799,000 sq km below the 1981-2010 mean.  That is 5.25% below “normal”.

And of course there are these "climate change alarmists" lying all the time.

Just look at that clown Bill Nye. He can't tell the difference between north and south and lied about the amount of global sea ice.

Global Warming Alarmist Bill Nye Confuses Antarctic Continent With The Arctic…Doesn’t Know North From South!
By P Gosselin on 16. Februar 2014

Bill Nye once again makes a fool of himself, this time on NBC’s Meet The Press before a national audience. At the 8:26 mark:

Er, Bill, that graphic you’re holding up is one of the Arctic, and not the Antarctic. Nye doesn’t even know north from south!

And concerning global sea ice, today it is at near normal levels. Nye cherry-picking the single data-point of September 2012 at the single location of the Arctic is not a persuasive argument – never mind him using the wrong chart.

wow great find brahahaha what a moron, so you found where nyle misspoke.Nye meant to refer to the Arctic, where sea ice has continually been decreasing, to the point that it now serves as a shipping lane in summer months. How do we know he meant to refer to the Arctic? He held up a picture of the Arctic. once again stick to 800 year old boatbuilders and talking snakes more your speed  :D :D :D :D

Bill Nye the new mouthpiece for the retards who believe man is causing "greenhouse effect" or "global warming" or "climate change" or soon to be "the new ice age" HAS HIS FACTS WRONG.

Global ice is not less now.

Global warming alarmists were wrong when they claimed the polar ice caps would be melted by now. Since that didn't happen and since the planet didn't get as hot as they claimed it would, they came up with the phrase "climate change".

No kidding.

When does the climate never change?

GLOBAL warming, NOT USA-only warming:
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2014/01/09/261043913/while-u-s-shivers-australia-and-brazil-sizzle

Temperatures across much of the U.S. are, , finally starting to get back to something close to normal after several days of .dangerously cold air.

If you've been longing for warmer weather, here's some news from The Weather Channel that you might want to file under "be careful what you wish for":

"Bats are dropping from trees, kangaroos are collapsing in the Outback and gardens are turning brown. While North America freezes under record polar temperatures, the southern hemisphere is experiencing the opposite extreme as heat records are being set in Australia after the hottest year ever.

"Weather forecasters in Australia said some parts of the sparsely populated Pilbara region along the rugged northwest coast on Thursday were approaching 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). The record high of 50.7 degrees Celsius (123.3 F) was set in 1960 in Oodnadatta, South Australia state. ..."

According to The Blaze, the heat in Australia "is so severe that it has already caused up to 100,000 bats to die under stress, littering the ground and alarming authorities who warn locals not to touch the animals for fear of infection."

The Perth Now news site says the thermometer will hit 44 degrees Celsius on Saturday. That's 111 degrees Fahrenheit.

This heat follows what already was Australia's hottest year on record — a year that also saw the nation plagued by drought-fueled wildfires.

Folks are sweating in other parts of the Southern Hemisphere, as well.

"Brazil is also sizzling, with the heat index reaching 49 degrees Celsius (120 F). Zookeepers in Rio de Janeiro were giving animals ice pops to beat the heat," The Weather Channel adds.

Argentina has only in recent days begun to breathe easier. A heat wave there during much of December "put stress on the electrical grid of Argentina resulting in blackouts that have left many without power and any way to cool down," AccuWeahter.com writes.
