also if you cut off their arms, shoulders, traps, and lats. basically if you reduced them to nothing but a head and pecs, yes, they'd be the same size as arnold. aside from his chest and his calves, absolutely everything on arnold would look like an amateur. find any pictures of him on stage with normal lighting and it's obvious how much smaller he was.
you can say it looked better and you prefer the less cartoonish physiques of times gone by, but please don't be so delusional as to say if you plucked arnold out of 1974 and dropped him on stage today he'd look like anything but a hobbyist in comparison.
Zach,I was just attempting to make a point how the big guts and oversized quads are ruining bodybuilding.
I realize they`d still be bigger than Arnold,at least I hope they would what with the tons of gear,HGH,and insulin as well as Synthol that`s involved these days.
But,would they look better than Arnold.....that`s subjective and is up to the eye of the beholder.
And,you must admit,a 40" waist on an Olympia competitor is lunacy, and goes against everything that bodybuilding was first supposed to portray, which was to have a build reminiscant of living sculpture.
