Yes, brought on by colonialism, an arms race, and a Kaiser who had an inferiority complex to his British grandmother. There was so much flamboyancy back then with the armed forces. IT was all about show. They cheered the masses going off to war, until 10 million people didn't come home. I think it was a cool time in history with all of the pageantry. I was in a military store and saw an old uniform with he huge tassels and large feathered helmet. I was surprised to learn it was a late 19th century US uniform. Who knew, even we tried to get in on the look too.
ah ok sorry i misunderstood your terming at first.
yeah, interesting time it was.
btw i thinkt he serb guy who shot the prince is most likely the biggest moron who walked earth in the last couple centuries.
on the other hand he contributed to many changes, monarchy was indeed done afterwards.
maybe even more ridiuclous, in a way , ww1 was a family battle.
the british, the russian, the german, fucking hell even the serb monarchs, were all related, as in, they were same family.
but thats not the whole story, some cases the military generals were more powerful, some monarchys were not as "absolute" as ppl think.
yes, how the soldiers smilled when they were sent to the death is most odd.
the pwer of the war indusrty complex had its roots with that conflict.by the time hitler came to power, most the power layed in the industries hands.
many those companies still exist and ofc they now produce peaceful products,i had no idea until recently haha.
as the saying goes, a scientist works in the interst of the ppl in peaceful time, but for the fatherland in war.
both peace and war come with some cost.
