That's what was done to the mcdonalds by my house. Another change they made was to completely remove the kids play area.

They want you to go there for a nice meal with the wife/girlfriend. Sit and chat over a Big Mac and large fry. While you sip a frap and she sips an Ice Coffee.
Kids interrupt this quality time.

And kids today aren't as active (and possibly not as clean) as they were years ago.

A friend worked for 6 months in a chicken factory - and he said all the chicken destined for the KFC suppliers about 40 miles away, was their finest grade AAA meat - and that it was the regular meat that went into pies and so on.

So it kind of busted the myth about KFC only having scabby birds - they have the very best, at least in the middle of England.

McDonalds in the UK is very slick and very clean indeed. Burger King let's themselves down, they have the best burgers but the scruffiest foreigner's i have ever seen whom probably shit into their own hands at home.

What did you get?

I ate about a quarter of the three things I had ordered, the rest I threw in the garden for the birds. Next day it was still there, even they wouldn't touch it. Resembled chemical waste.

In Stockholm they redid all of them in the upscale fashion. Or at least in the city, maybe the muslim suburbs' ones looks different..

But I kind of miss the old McDonald's style though.. The one I grew up with the clown, the cartoons etc..

I can't believe I ate that crap when I was young. Even in my mcgriddle days, I couldn't stomach KFC. It's just something that doesn't taste like food. Everything on the menu tastes like food that has been in your fridge for 3 days. Stale and low-quality. Period. I can stomach most fast food in a pinch if I'm starving and have a cold drink to wash it down fast... but not KFC.

Yes when you're far removed from the west, you go nuts when you have access to 'western' food - and by association, somehow feel more 'western' yourself. It doesn't surprise me at all that a shithole like Romania shows this kind of behaviour.

From what I know from my friends from NY McDonalds in the heart of Manhattan looks like shit also. Every McDonalds I've seen in Seattle area looked beyond horrible.

I would take Starbucks and give you our "clean McDonalds" anyday. At least they serve good coffee in many variations and whatever food they give you leaves you full for couple of hours. McDonalds gives you this effect only in outrageous amounts and it is i-am-at-the-edge-of-vomiting kind of fullness.
