First Pro show I ever attended 79 Florida Pro, Mentzer beat Robby in his pro debut! Thought Robby should have won! He was in unbelievable shape! Looked like he was carved out of marble! Mentzer got perfect score! Robby was unreal!

They had to give it to Mike or he would have cried about it for decades long after the contest was forgotten by most.

I met Mike about a year before that, he was guest posing at a local show! He talked to us for about 10 minutes. He was cool, had a good sense of humor back then! I was with my buddy and the manager of the gym I trained in who had legit 19" arms cold! He looked at him and said life ain't worth living if you don't have 18" arms! Guess he meant it!

. Now Cmon.  Robby won the next two with Mike getting second snd third- behind an awesome Danny Padilla and Mike never made a peep. He knew his condition had slipped- too much stress in a short time- dying mom, 3 shows, etc. nor did he utter a word after losing the Canada Cup to Dickerson in 79 or have much to say after winning the over 200 but losing the overall to Zane in 79...

53 y/o here! He is kinda recluse and won't mind drawing some attention...this was around 1998 at Firehouse and all of a sudden he screamed out loud I LOVE GROWTH HORMONE. He is one of the few who have lead the bb lifestyle since he syarted doing it. Hmself said Mentzer was his most fierce competitor and only had nice things to say about him, At one point for a few years in the 80;ies he moved to and stayed in Holland/Amsterdam for a few years. His hair was more afro and way longer back then. Guy also had LOTS of not so flattering things to say about the WEIDERS...
He even banned them from showing ANY pics of him at all in their mags. I I remember correct the coffeeshop MARLEYS got some nice written artwork of Robby on the walls. It's about a 5 min walk from Ballys, Amsterdams biggest and most equiped gyms. Dorian comes there when in town as well. Cormier too. Ed Van Amsterdam had his own dungoun (more like Temple gym)
