No Aussies have been told to avoid the sun completely..... Any sun exposure, not just delicate areas. Now it's common for many to be vitamin D deficient.
Probably a smart move just a little sunshine maybe 15 minutes daily to get the vit-D, hell I like tan lines anyway.

I loved Australia. I tried to upload my twelve (now eight) Apostles pics but the files are too large and , to be honest, the pics are crap compared to Vince's.

Nullarbor plain was awesome..

Damn thats going to hurt tourism.

Here you go, Mr Nobody. Had to reduce it from 30000 pixels wide. A panorama at Coogee Beach in Sydney. Popular with backpackers nowadays. There used to be the Coogee Bay Gym there run by Barry Hart. Robert Nailon and Les Spendlove used to train there.  Not great for surfing but lots of nice gals went there. Les won the Mr Australia title. Robert was Mr NSW. Les now lives in Thailand.

I worked on this pano for at least two weeks trying to get it right. Big job. You can see the mix of people here....most are tourists. They just have towels. The locals often have beach umbrellas or tents. The sun will damage the skin no matter how resistant you think you are. A visit to the skin specialist once every couple of years to get things burned off. Well, frozen with liquid Nitrogen.

Summer hot day at Coogee Beach.

I wish they would allow larger size photos here. 500 Kb is way too small. 1 Mb would be heaps better.

Bondi Beach...one of the truly great beaches on this planet. The sand squeaks when you walk on it. It is quite long and there are plenty of shops to get something to eat, etc. The surf is good most of the year and I have body surfed there many times. The water is a bit cool but warms up a bit from Feb to April when it is about 22 degress C. That is about 72 degrees F.

They have a club called the Icebergs at Bondi Beach. I haven't swum there yet. Paul Graham used to run a gym there.

There are beaches all up and down the coast from Sydney. Here is One Mile Beach at Forster. They pronounce it without the r in Australia which is weird. Cairns is pronounced Canns in Aussie. Or something like that but definitely no R sound. I always mispronounce the names of cities like Melbourne. Again, they say it without the R sound. Brisbane isn't Bris Bain, but Brisbin. Go figure. Heck, I don't sound like an Aussie yet when I go back to Canada they ask where I am from! I tell them somewhere half way across the Pacific.

Look at One Mile Beach. The wave is almost the full length of the beach. Just amazing. This was taken in the Aussie winter so no one swimming there.

This was one of my best beach shots ever. It helps to have an amazing sky.

Surfers is a beautiful place to visit. Here is an early morning panorama looking from the surf. The tall building is called the Soul building and was completed a year or two ago. The green building behind it is actually higher and is called the Q1 tower for Queensland. It has an observation deck up past the 70th floor and is worth the price to visit. There was some sand erosion caused by a huge storm and you can see the sand dropping steeply. They had to cordon the area off and they had heavy machinery there to move sand to the worst affected areas.

Bronte Beach in Sydney. I shot this photo then after I took it noticed the gal on the right. Sort of a fun photo. You can't see her face.
Naturally, I didn't complain to the lifeguards! ;D

I consider this the best photo I have taken in recent years. I needed Lightroom 5 to bring out the details in the shadows. Made a good photo into one that is special to me.

Ghosties Beach is about 2 hours north of Sydney in a state National Park. No one on the beach when I visited. It required a walk that took me a couple of hours.

Here is Kelly Slater at Snapper Rocks in Queensland a couple of years ago. He won the event that year. I used my Canon 500mm lens with a 1.4 tele-extender.

Surfers is a must see if you are visiting from overseas. The Gold Coast is a bit like southern Florida. Lots of high rise buildings and just a great place to live. Beaches close by, weather always warm. Magic place for us Canadians.

Looks like you have as many fatties in Australia as we do in Florida.

You can't judge the Aussies by what you see at tourists spots. However, officially, Aussies are getting fatter. Not so many real obese people like you see at Wallmart in the US.

We are getting some Costco stores now but I haven't seen a Wallmart in Australia yet.

ROFL... I didn't realize the secret was out.  :-[

I've seen some of the most beautiful women you can imagine shopping at Costco.

Here is a photo I took at Snapper Rocks during the surf contest. I saw this gal and thought she had a near perfect body. I actually prefer more curvaceous gals. Well, some blokes thought I should have asked permission to post her photo. I mean, I didn't know who she was and I didn't see her face. These hot gals knew what they were doing because there were hundreds of people with cameras and video cameras on the beach recording the event. What is a surf contest without hot gals?! The good looking ones made sure they were seen.  :P

Have to go to my gym to do some work. Will post more photos later.

I occasionally do some photographic art. I take a photo then transform it into an art form. Here is an example of a shot I took at the Surf Contest in 2011.

More variations on the art theme. Just to show there is no racial bias here.

Tamarama Beach in Sydney. This beach is south of Bondi Beach just around the corner. That is Bronte Beach beyond. Coogee Beach is around the headland in the distance. Sydney has over 30 beaches. Tamarama is one of the smaller beaches. The locals call it Glamorama.

Clovelly Beach is between Bronte and Coogee Beaches in Sydney. They do have some sand at the end and also a pool. However, there is a lot of concrete and rocks that people lie on. Great place to learn Scuba diving.

People are on Bondi Beach before sunrise. They walk, exercise, row and swim.
