Lil Wayne and his near fatal overdose, or this other clown Future screaming about buying codeine whosale and sipping on "lean.." Is this just for rappers or celebs? Only in the Deep South or West Coast ? No one in NYC I know ever seen it, they say do freakin Oxy or dope instead of that shit...

its on the east coast too but its not as strong as oxycodone or the other shit so its literally a waste of money, u can find anything in ny/nj

it's just codeine.. an opiate. gets you warm and fuzzy and content.

I've only drank the syrup once, way back in like 02 when I was spending the night at a friends house and couldn't sleep. drank probably half the bottle she had and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't bad. kicked in quicker than a regular pain pill, but other than that, it's no different from regular codeine/vicodin/perc/oxy/ect...

Codeine and promethazine, which potentiates the codeine.

The syrup is fun, but it's terribly expensive.  $500-600 for a pint. So I think it serves as a status symbol for rappers too

Yeah its a down south thing.

dj screw from houston aka screwston made it popular in rap...screwed and chopped mixes were inspired by the drug. And its purple cause of the promethazine like pv69 mentioned. dj screw died from it ...mixing it with valium and other shit.

Have you ever taken vicodin, percocet, or oxycontin? If so, it's a lot like that.

If not, well.....opiates just make you feel great.  It's kinda like being drunk, with the inflated sense of self-worth, but you just feel warm and comfortable not wild and loud.  Very easy to see why so many people get addicted

I think rappers like sizzurp because it's a socially-acceptable way to be addicted to opiates.  Doesn't carry the stigma of being hooked on pills or heroin

The worst part of it is I think that the hydrocodone has high amounts of Tylenol so you will try to maintain your high and gradually poison yourself with Tylenol.

Another thing with the various cough syrups was that certain ones were easy to get until very recently. Many southern states allowed purchase of them with minimal interference, they had to be sales logged by a pharmacist, but you didn't a prescription.

When I was in college, a bunch of us took acid and somebody broke Tylenol with codeine out and we drank it to try and go to bed. Nothing special that I remember.
