He's obnoxious, narcissistic, rude, and a sore winner.

Most of mainstream America had never heard of him... their only impression is this grown man angrily screaming (talking trash) about how another man shouldn't be talking trash.  I mean, stop acting like an idiot already.  

Think about it this way...
In every game in every sport, the reporters seek out the hero just seconds after the game-winning shot.  They're happy but they manage to act like grown-ups when speaking to millions of people.  LeBron James never had a day of college and does this quite well.  Richard Sherman brags about his intelligence, brags about his degree (in communications, much less!) yet when given that national platform - He doesn't have the emotional control to not scream in an angry fashion.

But I think it plays to his passion for the sport. Don't get me wrong I agree with you it's obnoxious as shit but so were other greats...the best couple I can think of off top of my head - Muhammad Ali, Charles Barkley and most of the WWE hahaha

however, he is insecure.  PERIOD.  

Anyone who goes on ESPN morning show to brag "I'm better at life than you" to someone who believed Revis was a better CB... highly insecure.

Anyone who wanders the street with a camera crew saying "WHo is the best cornerback?"

Anyone who screams in cameras about being the greatest...
Anyone who does the CHOKE sign...
Anyone who slaps a dude on the ass and calls him out by name on nat'l TV...

He's super insecure.  I bet he has a 4 inch cawk, no doubt.  All that money, best in the game, educated and the future looking bright... and can't stop telling others about it?

Dionne Sanders did a ton of trash talking and he was feared on the field. Michael Jordan and Larry Bird were some of the worst trash talkers of all time. What these guys all have in common with Sherman is they all back it up.
