Who do humans think they're fooling when they get caught red handed doing something wrong and they still deny it. I'll give a few examples.
Man gets stopped by a cop. Guy has warrants. Guy gets searched and cop finds meth in his wallet that was on him. Guy denies it's his.
Man and woman are having an affair. Man and woman get caught having an affair. They answer, we were weren't having sex or "it's not what it looks like".
I mean wtf? Why do humans do this? It seems to happen whether they're under the influence or sober. It's as if the shame of getting caught is so great, they'll knowingly give an answer that's very highly unlikely or just straight up nonsense than to tell the truth.
This shame is a very powerful emotion.
