Mickey Rourke is going for the health look

He was a professional boxer in the 90's and got his face fucked up pretty bad.  The subsequent surgeries to "fix" it obviously did more bad than good.  He doesn't look too bad these days but there was a while there in the early 2000's that he looked like death.  Think he's cleaned up a bit as well, not boozing and drugging as much as he did.

 He was an  good amateur fighter in the 60's and 70's. He became an became a famous actor after that. He was a pro in the 90's but it was mainly a publicity stunt because he was a shot fighter going against bums. I don't believe his face was ruined by boxing to the point that plastic surgery did that mess to his face. I use to watch a lot of his fights.

I have no proof but I think his face is the results of recreational drugs, some plastic surgery and maybe the biggest contributor could have been growth hormone. If that face is blamed on bad plastic surgery the guy must have been a complete hack.

He talked about his plastic surgery in an interview and pretty much said the first surgeon was a hack. All the pics on line look like he just kept having more and more surgery.  The drinking, drugs and chain smoking has not helped either.

It's no secret that Mickey Rourke has had plastic surgery, and bad plastic surgery at that. The actor once claimed that he went to the wrong man to put his face back together, and he has continued to try to correct the 2008 hatchet job ever since.

The actor famously underwent surgery in attempt to regain his once-handsome looks, which he lost when he became a professional boxer in 1991 after his career in Hollywood fizzled. Rourke returned to acting after he was advised to stop boxing due to neurological problems.

"I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone. I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn't healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was hemorrhoids," he told The Daily Mail in 2009, adding that "Most of [the surgery] was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together,' he says.

That's the best he has looked in decades. I still don't know what happened to his face. He was a handsome man. Could it be growth hormone? I have never seen someone change their face so dramatically for the worse. He isn't that old.

It is the best he's looked in forever, but I dunno that I'd ever have called him a handsome fella.  He looked like a sewer rat in "Body Heat," and I think that was one of his earliest roles :?:
