Precisely. No 1080p, no care. The last CAM I watched was The Hobbit 2 because it was just going to be streamed to my tablet. Had a new baby so going to the theatres is kind of out of the question for a movie that long. Before that, I can't remember the last CAM I bothered with.
Still waiting for some more price drops before I go to 4K. They sure are pretty but I don't think it's quite essential at this time.
The thing with 4k is that you need to be pretty much sitting nose-length (not that close, but close) to the screen to see a difference over 1080p. Even 55' you would need to be sitting 3ft away to notice a definitive difference. Which is why the ones you would've seen in shops are the 102' sizes
From Sony themselves;
'The short answer is that between 5 and 6 ft. is the ideal viewing distance for a 55” or 65” Sony 4K Ultra HD TV. However, on a 55“, you can now sit as close as 3.6 ft and enjoy a visibly smoother and more detailed picture (e.g you won’t see the individual pixels). On a 65“ TV, you can sit as close as 4.2 ft. to appreciate 4K'
So I'm not too sure how 4k will turn out. And I saw at CES that Samsung rolled up with an 8k TV.
