Sneaker heads are a subculture, usually relevant to hip hop and people who follow basketball

Here is rapper Trinidad James talking about Nike's Foams...and he breaks things down like how any hobbyist or enthusiast would.

Yes and usually for the unemployed or 30k millionaires

I think maybe Phil Heath is a masturbation abstainer and the extra energy he has goes into collecting shoes.  The repression of his sexual urges has come out as some twisted foot fetish.  ;D

What I don't get is, that many of the shoes like Jordans are reissues, except for new colorways. When they first come out, way back when, buy two pair, one to wear and one to keep so that you can sell them later on, or for your collection.
After a while, one starts looking at the money you spend on shoes, which could have gone to something else, that actually appreciates in value, or actually does something (you wear shoes).

You can make money from "dealing" sneakers.  You just have to be consistent and know when to sell....just like with any other commodity, I suppose.

There are even sneaker conventions......weird.

I just find it funny that a grown man is into the same things teenage boys are.  At least he's not trying to fuck them (the boys, not the sneakers) (Well, ok....the sneakers, too  ;D)

Phillip Heath
Had to pull out my @kingjames ‪#‎LebronX‬ - ‪#‎BHM‬ today. The shoe game is one that only the real understand. The rest usually throw salt, but that's because they either have no interest in shoes (which is fuggin weird), or simply are pusses bcuz they couldn't snag em before they sold out lol. I decided to buy Lebron's only after he won a title. Always been a fan but I'm even a bigger one now.

Waiting until LeBron won a title, that's smart.  I hate it when fans support players/teams BEFORE the win a title.  Who wants to get behind a loser?

I don't get the sneaker thing. It looks like crap and these shoes make you look like an immature clown. That combined with $50 dollar Affliction type tee shirts completes the clown look.

You want to look like a GQ man that stops women in their tracks? Lift and do cardio then dress like a real man. Try wearing something like this with dress pants or even a nice pair of jeans. You can thank me later.

It's because he is arrogant and pompous and loves to boast.  He has no humility at all.  That's not a becoming attribute.

What "athlete" in history ever called themselves "The Gift"?

Not even Muhammad Ali, Gretzki, Montana or Jordan?

Phil has been a cocky guy from day one...
