Never understood why people care what other people are doing in the gym.
I
Because of the environment it creates. Back in the late 70s throughout most of the 80s the only people who bothered to go to the gym were serious trainers. Most everyone seemed jacked. There was intensity in the atmosphere. You didn't need to wear head phones to block out the environment because you wanted to take it in. It was inspiring.
Now when I walk into the gym during peak hours I stop and look around. People watching TV, on their cell phone, one guy even texting while doing leg presses, people just sitting around BSing while hogging equipment, some ass clown shadow boxing in front of the mirror, dumbbells scattered all over the place because people are just too goddamn inconsiderate to put it away.
It's depressing.
For the last six weeks I've been going to the gym at 1:00 AM. It kind of sucks time wise but I only train 3 times a week so I can catch up on sleep on the off days. And it's so much better. I can blast through a workout without having to wait for some douche sleep walking through a set and come out feeling great and energized instead of wore out and depressed because my hour workout takes over two hours because I have to wait for equipment.
