Bus driver fired for denfending himself

 ???

What was the driver supposed do?

KENOSHA (WITI) – A bus full of passengers rolls into parked cars. This, as the bus driver and a teen are fighting — in an incident that was caught on camera. Now, the teen is charged, and the bus driver is fired.

The video shows Kenosha Transit bus driver Scotty Wells greet a 17-year-old Kenosha Tremper High School student who stepped onto his bus after school on January 17th.

“I know it’s you. Been waiting for you,” Wells says in the video.

A police report says Wells claims he had asked for the teen’s information after allegedly having problems with him on previous rides.

“What’s that for?” the teen asks in the video.

“That’s for your mouth…when you got off the bus the last time,” Wells says in the video.

In the video, the teen sits down, but a few moments later, the teen gets back up as Wells speaks.

Then, an altercation ensues between the teen and the bus driver, and the video shows the teen punching Wells twice — breaking his glasses in the process.

The video shows Wells get out of his seat and fight back.

The police report says Wells told police he feared for his safety.

As the bus driver and the teen are fighting, the bus begins to move forward, hitting a station wagon before rolling into other parked cars.

The video shows Wells then call police, and the teen was arrested for battery and recklessly endangering safety.

Wells was treated for bruises to his face and left knee. Afterwards, Kenosha Transit fired Wells as a result of the incident.

FOX6 News stopped by Wells’ home on Tuesday — but no one was there. We also reached out to the union Wells belongs to, but we have not received a response.

Kenosha Transit has not responded to requests for comment as well.

this man did nothing wrong.....imho.

the kid probably thought the driver would do nothing and when the driver defended himself.....that is when the attacker tried to play the victim.

just my 2 cents.

Stupid he did not make sure the bus was fully parked before getting into an altercation.  We get the fighting and protecting yourself but having it roll into other parked cars is just stupid.   What if there were people walking and it ran them over.  That is probably one of the main reasons he was fired.
Wait for it....

Liberal logic at work here....punish the victim, outlaw basic human right of self defense. In their ideology, allowing yourself to be victimized is morally superior than defending yourself by fighting back.

Well said. I guess my point of view is if you're the company & you've seen the footage & understand the situation, why not just suspend him instead of outright firing him? You're right though, should've stopped the bus.

Because they can't afford to employ a driver who'd place his passengers at such risk.

...takes about a half-second to set the brake.

Do that, proceed to ass kicking mode, and no troubles. Everything can be explained.

And what is it you are applying here, potato logic?  This intredasting bus driver jeopardized everyone on that bus and around it by his actions.  Did you even read what this thread was about?  ::)

The first rule of fighting in any transport if you are the driver is you stop the transport first then you kick ass after.
