Free will is an illusion. We don't choose much. 
of course we are governed by many things. And influenced by many things.
But, most people have a choice in being happy, or rising above their misery, which for the most part is of their own making.
I was watching the Bertil Fox documentary, and Rick Wayne talked about how Bertil blamed his failures on others. And a judge and Rick had said that Bertil had the physique, but not the charisma, he lacked self confidence. So, what happens is, he became miserable and blamed his misery on others, instead of looking at himself.
Or think about many guys on here, they talk about finding some hot woman (or woman big fake breasts), some 10, but only talk about her looks, nothing else. Then they get into a relationship with her and are miserable because all she is looks, no personality, etc. Well, you got into a relationship with her, and you accepted her for what she was all about---your misery was your own doing.
I'm not wallowing, if you can't imagine a scenario where one is ok with being surrounded by shit you've really not adjusted to life that well.
What do you mean surrounded by shit? Man, there are people who wish that they had your job and doing what you are doing. Are you just unhappy that you are doing what you are doing, and have decided that this is your fate in life? And therefore, you are surrounded in shit?
